Deal Or No Deal? Update On Arsenal’s Chase To Sign Star Winger, As Wenger Wants More Quality

The Story Thus Far-

The Gunners were all set to splash out again on French international Thomas Lemar. Arsenal have already broken their club record fee, when they signed Lacazette in £52m deal and now they are all set to shatter it once again as they look to revamp their squad and make then into a title winning side.

Arsene Wenger has been given full control of transfers and he is looking bolster his side in all areas on the pitch now.

The Gunners have so far snapped up Sead Kolasinac on a free transfer, after the 24 year old Bosnian ran out of contract and Lacazette from Lyon.

According to few British media outlets, Arsene wants a new winger since Alexis Sanchez is yet to decide on his future and Wenger is wasting no time to find potential targets.

Lemar has emerged as a possible name who can be a long term replacement to the Chilean international, if he indeed decides to leave north London in the days to come.

The young French international has had a pretty impressive season for Monaco last season as they won the Ligue 1 and also manged to reach the semi-finals of UEFA Champions league.

As Monaco have already lost a few first team starters this season but they have also received hefty sums in return and in the case of Lemar they will again look to demand more.

According to few media reports Monaco have slapped a price tag of £80m on the 21 year old and Wenger believes Monaco could lower the asking price and come to a mutual consent.

However, If Monaco are unwilling to lower the asking price then Arsene Wenger might look elsewhere for other potential targets and could once again consider the possibility of signing Leicester City’s star player Riyad Mahrez.

Recent Update-

The north Londoners have been trying their best to get their target to leave France and join them, though the Ligue 1 champs are themselves keen on holding on to the 21 year old superstar. Both sides want him and this is developing into another interesting transfer saga.

On one hand, Wenger and his side want t reinforce their attack and need some additional signings for that purpose. On the other hand, it is Monaco, who have already lost a few stars and do not wish to add Lemar to that list now.

Author’s take-
Arsenals interest in Lemar is triggered for a number of reasons. He has a brilliant technical ability which is one of the main reasons clubs are running after him, He provided 14 assists across all competition last season which pretty much tells his brilliant link up play with his team mates.

If at all Arsenal manage to Lemar then it would be a brilliant deal for the gunners since they would get a quite professional who is conscientious, He is a very easy to get along with, In short a type of player we would normally see Wenger signing.
