4-0!! What Does This Decimation Of Swansea City Mean For Manchester United

The Red Devils march on in style as they beat the Swans 4-0 at the Liberty Stadium. Manchester United have started their challenge for the Premier League title in impressive form as they put four past Swansea City too. Goals from Eric Bailey, Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba and Anthony Martial sealed the deal for the Red Devils.

Eric Bailey found the net just before the half time after a header from Paul Pogba hit the crossbar and pitched on the goal line but Bailey’s presence of mind was too good as he put it in the net before it could be cleared.

Swansea were however impressive during the first half as they did not let United go past them easily and did pretty good defensively.

Swansea started the match with a new formation  (3-5-2) much to everyone’s surprise. Although they started pretty well and almost found the back net when Ayew chipped the ball in but unfortunately it hit the cross bar with no one running in to head it.

Manchester United were looking good at counter attacks but couldn’t get a early breakthrough. However, United did manage to break the deadlock just before the Half Time whistle.

In the second half United played with more ball possession and tried to find a way through Swansea. The Swans did come close to score an equalizer as Tammy Abraham head the ball only for it to go wide of the post.


The Big Belgian then scored the 2nd of the game as he shot through space he found in the box and found the net at 80th minute. Paul Pogba then made no mistake as he chipped above Fabianski to make it 3-0 for Manchester United.

Anthony Martial then made it 4-0 for United as he cut through Mawson to slot it in. This win will be a morale booster for José Mourhino side as they have scored 8 goals so far in two matches without conceding.

Manchester United will host Leicester City next week and will hope to continue winning in the same style to put up a good fight for the Premier League this season.

What It Means For Manchester United?

Arsenal lost to Stoke City, while Liverpool won by a single goal. Spurs, Chelsea and Manchester City have still not played. This means that a huge win like this could give the Red Devils a huge advantage over their fierce rivals, who have some tough fixtures coming up.

It will be the Blues vs Tottenham on Sunday, while City face Everton on Monday evening. Also, Jurgen Klopp’s side will be facing the Gunners in the week to follow.

With 8 goals in just a couple of matches, it is quite clear who has taken the initiative already and if they can keep up the pace and their rivals do slip up now, things could get quite interesting in the days to come.
