How Chelsea’s Win Against Everton Could Be A Sign Of Things To Come?

The Premier League champions climbed up the league table, as they beat Ronald Koeman’s side comfortably, in a game that many expected to produce morea. Antonio Conte will be delighted how his side has drastically improved since the opening day defeat to Burnley. Both the side’s went with a same formation 3-4-3.

Chelsea started the game on positive note as Everton struggled to keep up in the first 20 minute’s. The Toffees couldn’t close down the gap in the center of the park as Fàbregas and Kanté were bossing the midfield.

The Blues were pressing high and weren’t letting Everton get over them as a result Ronald Koeman’s side gave away possession more often in the midfield area inviting Conte’s side to get a breakthrough.

Chelsea eventually got the lead as Cesc Fàbregas   played a quick one-two with Alvaro Morata and slots it in perfectly.

The former Real Madrid man did well to link up with Fàbregas and showed great understanding to take the lead for their side.

Chelsea continued to put great pressure on Everton’s back four as they were in search of the second one before half time.

In the 40th minute Chelsea got what they wished for as they found the back of net once again just 5 minute’s before half time as their new no.9 Alvaro Morata head the ball in perfectly provided by his fellow international teammate Azpilicueta.

Azpilicueta crossed the ball brilliantly into the penalty area which found Morata perfectly and the striker made no mistaking putting it past Pickford.

There weren’t much effort from the Toffees in the second half as they were clueless not only in the back but also up front failing to convert any real chances.

Chelsea on the other hand looked determined in their effort to finish off the game just like they started.

In the end it was relatively a comfortable victory  for the Blues, They were on top of it right from the start of the game and did not let their lead slip.

Although you can’t blame the Toffees for not putting up a fight as they had a Champions League qualification game in the middle of the week and of course a few player were tired.

Credit should be given to Chelsea for taking full advantage of this and securing those 3 points.

What This Means For The Premier League Now?

With Arsenal messing up things against Liverpool and losing 4-0 at Anfield, the north London outfit have dropped down to 16th place, with Klopp’s team at 2nd spot, just a couple of points behind United. Chelsea now lie at 6th place, with the teams going into the international break.

Hopefully, the teams in form do not lose their key players during this time to injury, as has been the case over the years.

Wenger might look to recover from this horror of a start to the new season, though the Blues themselves will know that they still want to catch Jose Mourinho’s side and themselves take the lead, as they look to retain their league title.
