Another Rumour Or The Harsh Truth?
In shocking news, Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he wants to leave the European Champions to join his former club Manchester United. The four-time Ballon d’Or winner has grown frustrated with his club dropping crucial points at the start of the season and reportedly wants a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu.
Having left the Red Devil’s eight years ago, Ronaldo has won three Champions League titles, two La Liga titles and two Copa Del-Rey titles with Real Madrid. The 32-year-old has established himself as one of the all-time greats and is now looking to move back to Old Trafford to play under former manager Jose Mourinho.
Having previously worked with Mourinho, his national compatriot Ronaldo is keen on getting back to Manchester United, has hinted at a possible switch. In a recent interview, Ronaldo was questioned about his taxes, which were claimed to be accused as a fraud. The Portuguese winger was quoted saying,”I didn’t hide anything and don’t even know what I am doing here.”
Ronaldo was then asked: “Did you have any problems?” to which he replied, “I never had any problems in England. Never.”
This had raised speculation about the forward’s speculation at the Madrid club being linked to England and most probably Manchester United. Ronaldo developed himself as a star at Old Trafford in Manchester and was a key member for Sir Alex Ferguson during his time at the club.
To add fuel to the rumors, Ronaldo has also appointed Jose Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes as a potential replacement for his lawyer to assess the tax issues. All the hints direct a move towards United.
Certainly, Manchester United fans will be ecstatic to have the idea of having the Euro 2016 champion back at their club. Despite his age, Ronaldo is still delivering at the top level and is seemingly getting better with each passing day.
The Portugal winger is currently serving a suspension and has been out of action for his club since receiving a red card against Barcelona in the Spanish cup tie. From the stands, Ronaldo has seen his club drop points at home against the likes of Valencia and Levante in the La Liga.
Ronaldo would be welcomed at Manchester United, who are currently looking to take advantage of the situation he is in at the moment. Reports claim that Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane will be having a meeting with Ronaldo this week to discuss his future, and United fans will be hoping it doesn’t end well.
Deal Or No Deal?
Do the Red Devils really need an aging Ronaldo back at Old Trafford or are they happy with the stars that they already have? Obviously, the Portuguese international is a world-class player and there is no doubt that he will be a huge bonus to any team, but will be worth the money that Real Madrid will demand from the English giants or would they rather prefer to sign some young talents instead.
