The Major Transfer Saga-
Reports suggest that Chelsea are ready to open contract talks with star winger Eden Hazard in the coming few weeks. The Belgian winger has been heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu over the summer and the Los Blancos have publicly stated their interest in Hazard.
Chelsea has returned to winning ways in the Premier League this season after a shock 3-2 loss at the hands of Burnley at Stamford Bridge on their opening fixture in the Premier League. And after having a rather underwhelming transfer window in the summer, Chelsea boss Antonio Conte managed to bring in the likes of Alvaro Morata, Tiemoue Bakayoko, Antonio Rudiger and Willy Caballero.
But the Blues lost two key players in the form of midfield general Nemanja Matic and club legend John Terry. And fortunately for the London club, they managed to keep a hold of their marquee player Eden Hazard.
Hazard was injured and was eyeing a move to the European champions Real Madrid during the transfer window, but Conte persuaded him to remain at Chelsea as he was a key member of the squad that helped win the Premier League in Conte’s first season at the helm.
Therefore, to keep Hazard tied to the club, the Chelsea board is offering the 26-year-old a new contract which could see him remain at the club till 2021. The four-year extension also comes with a pay hike which could make Hazard earn a staggering amount of £200,000 a week.
Hazard has been an instrumental player for Chelsea since his arrival at the club in 2012 from French club Lille. He has achieved massive success at the club winning the Premier League on two separate occasions, a Europa League title in his first season as well as a League Cup title. Hazard has played a huge part in Chelsea’s triumphs and is still desperate to give more with his peak years ahead of him.
However, there are many suitors for the young star, with major interest coming from Spain in the form of giants Barcelona and Real Madrid. Chelsea may have to secure a deal with Hazard as quickly as possible as the Spanish champions will come knocking on the door in the winter transfer window.
The highly skilled dribbler is set to sign a new contract in the coming few weeks and Hazard scored 16 goals last season which was crucial for Chelsea.
Update On The Game-
Chelsea are leading 3-0 against Nottingham Forest at half time, with goals from Kenedy, Batshuayi and Musonda. The Blues are looking in command and it seems that another easy win is on the cards, which will see the west London outfit advance to the 4th round of the League Cup.
Conte would be pleased by his team’s performance thus far and will hope that they can continue to play like this, not just in the cup competitions, but in the league as well, as they look to defend their Premier League title.
