Match Preview : Manchester United vs Burton Albion, Will This Red Devils’ Star Play Today?

Manchester United will face Burton Albion in the third round of match of Carabao Cup at Old Trafford on Wednesday. Manchester United is running through a brilliant form in this season so far. They had just outclassed Everton in an one sided encounter with an emphatic margin of 4-0. They were emerged victorious against FC Basel in the opening match of Champions League with a 3-0 margin.

Manchester United were the Champions of this Cup in the previous season and it was the first trophy of Jose Mourinho in his career at United. They would like to win it also in this year.

However, the fixtures for them are really tough as they have to play in Premier League and UEFA Champions League also. Jose Mourinho will prefer to avoid injuries in his squad after Paul Pogba being out for few weeks after receiving a knock against Basel in the Champions League.

So some changes in the starting line up is expected against Burton on Wednesday.
Burton Albion are not in a very good form in the Championship. They are currently placed at 19th position in the League table with 8 points in the same number of games. In the previous weekend they had pulled off a win against Fulham with a scoreline of 2-1.

Warnock and Akins scored in that match and the win will surely boost some of their confidence before coming to Old Trafford. It will be a huge task for them to beat United at Old Trafford but the team will fight and not give up till the end of the match.

Team News :

Manchester United :
The squad rotation is obvious for United due to congested fixtures in the upcoming days. Mourinho have a good squad in hand and it would not be a great problem for him to rotate the squad. Sergio Romero will start as United Keeper for the first time in the season in place of David De Gea. Darmian and Luke Shaw will be at the two wing-back position for United for this match. Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof will pair up in the central defense. Michael Carrick and Ander Herrera will start at the central midfield. McTominay and Gomes ,two products of Academy may start the match along with Lingard in the attacking midfield while Anthony Martial is expected to be a lone forward upfront. Paul Pogba who was injured in the Champions League match against FC Basel could possibly return to the squad, though whether he will play or not, is still not certain yet.

Burton Albion :
Burton will probably like to start with a 3-5-2 formation. Bywater will be present in the Burton goal on Wednesday. McFadzean, Buxton and Turner will be at the heart of the defense. They will try to engage United players in the midfield area and therefore will play with 5 midfielders. Brayford, Murphy, Akins, Warnock, Allen will be blocking the United attacks by outnumbering them in the midfield. They will also provide good balls to Scanell and Sordell who will lead the team from the front.

My Predicted First Eleven :

Manchester United : (4-2-3-1)
Goalkeeper : Romero.
Defenders : Darmian, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw.
Midfielders : Herrera, Carrick; McTominay, Gomes, Lingard.
Attackers : Martial.

Burton Albion : (3-5-2)
Goalkeeper : Bywater.
Defenders : McFadzean, Turner, Buxton.
Midfielders : Brayford, Warnock, Akins, Murphy, Allen.
Attackers : Scanell, Sordell.

My Score Prediction :
Manchester United 4-0 Burton Albion.
