Should We Sign Him?
Arsene Wenger is currently on the look-out for bringing in new faces at the Emirates club after trying to hint at a possibly busy transfer January window. The latest rumor floating around the club is that of Barcelona’s Arda Turan coming to London. The La Liga giants have been reportedly frustrated by Turan’s lack of game time and so is the player, and the two parties are currently in negotiations with the English club Arsenal over a potential switch over the January transfer window.
Wenger had brought in two key players to Arsenal this summer and they both have become instant fan favorites at the club. Club record signing Alexandre Lacazette arrived from Ligue 1 side Lyon and has hit the ground running for Arsenal, while former Schalke left-back Sead Kolasinac has been strong and sturdy on the left-hand side of the pitch for the Gunners.
But still, Wenger’s side are far from content with the players’ contract issues, potential title favorites and building a future for the club. However, during the summer, the French boss did let go of unwanted stock at the club to raise funds for his transfers and looks to continue the same way to bring in fresh players in the winter.
Reports claim that Arsenal will not be willing to pay the €40 million that Barcelona paid for the services of Turan from Atletico Madrid. He hasn’t even featured in any game for the Catalonian’s this season and is ready to leave the club in January due to lack of game-time.
Arsenal are also set to sell star midfielder Mesut Ozil in the winter window as his contract runs out next June making him a free agent. Wenger will look to raise funds from Ozil’s sale to bring in Turan, who is also capable of playing through the middle of the pitch as he did during his Atleti days.
The Turkish captain moved to the Catalan capital in 2015 and helped them to one La Liga title and one Copa Del Rey. But at 30, he still has a lot to play for, but Barcelona isn’t able to comply with him due to the star quality they possess in their squad.
Wenger is also ready to sell English attacker Theo Walcott in January to Southampton and Turan could be an upgrade to the rather underwhelming winger. Galatasaray are another club that are interested in bringing back the combative midfielder to where he began his career.
Editor’s View – The Perfect Time
Most Gooners would by now feel that this is the right time for the board to sack Wenger and bring in Ancelotti. The team lost once again on their travels to Watford, which is now becoming really embarrassing for both the French manager and the club as a whole. If initially, Wenger was going through a bad phase, he is just making it a lot worse now and things are down even further downhill.
There is a need for change and the former Bayern Munich boss can bring it at the Emirates. There is a need to act quick. Like our page for more news if you agree, as we approach 30k likes. Cheers!!
