Sweet Revenge? Manchester United Sign Huddersfield’s Young Star To Strengthen Defensive Line

Jose Mourinho

The Deal That Has Been Completed!!

Manchester United completed the signing for Huddersfield Town youth player Rocco Fregapane to strengthen their defense. Despite losing 2-1 to the Terriers during the weekend, the Red Devils have snapped up one of their young stars which put them at an advantageous stage.

Jose Mourinho’s side has not been able to maintain a powerful attack since ace midfielder Paul Pogba got injured in a Champions League clash. The Frenchman was key for United’s transformation from defense to attack but the Red Devils have now lost their driving force in midfield which has also caused them problems at the back.

Mourinho has however always believed in providing a solid base in defense which would better adapt his team from conceding goals. And the Manchester outfit were in talks over back-doors with signing teenage prodigy Fregapane.  And on Monday, the father of the England U-15 star confirmed that Fregapane has indeed signed for the most successful club in the country.

Fregapane League winners signed U-23 forward Josh Bohui in similar circumstances arriving from Brentford. The striker almost-single-handedly helped United to a 2-2 draw in the Europa Youth League earlier this month when he scored a penalty and a brilliant individual goal in the 90th minute of the game to salvage a crucial away point against Benfica.

Fregapane will be playing at an U-18 level in a few years and the youth coach Kieran McKenna has been instrumental in blossoming the youth squad. They have won their last two games scoring six goals together in the U-18 competitions

Sam Fregapane, father of young Rooco published a message on Facebook stating, “Well done Rocco who today signed for Man Utd and is off on England duty next week for the Under 15s. We are so proud of you,” he wrote.

Further, Huddersfield Town’s chairman Dean Hoyle has claimed that Fregpane’s departure was part of a re-shuffling as they upgrade of ‘four’ till ‘two’. Hoyle mentioned, “Our Academy system must provide a strong and obvious pathway to the first-team for players who are good enough, whilst also representing value for the club,” he said.

“Upon review, this is not something that we could claim. “This decision has been the biggest we have undertaken in my time as chairman, and not an easy one. However, we cannot be afraid of change. This is a vital area to the long-term success of this club.  We must make every effort to get this right.” He added.

This is surely a decision taken to improve the long-term success at the club in the youth ranks. But Fregapane’s arrival at Manchester United will definitely assure a sense of solidity for United in their youth system.

The Huge Clash Against Tottenham-

The game against Spurs on Saturday at Old Trafford will be a crucial fixture, with both teams fighting for a spot at the top of the Premier League table, as they look to hunt down Manchester City. It will be interesting to see which team comes on top, though the Red Devils will surely have the advantage of playing at home.
