Latest Update On The Future Of This Chelsea Star:
David Luiz, the star defender of Chelsea is targeted by various clubs of Europe in the January transfer window and currently the Gunners are leading the race to sign the defender. There was some worrying news that was previously floating around Stamford Bridge after reports claimed that the Brazilian center-back was feeling that it could be the end of the road for his career at Stamford Bridge. Luiz has not been involved in the starting eleven over the past few weeks which has grown suspicion over whether everything is alright with the fizzy haired defender.
With the arrival of Antonio Rudiger and rise of Andreas Christensen in the Chelsea back-line, there is stiff competition for a starting berth in the Chelsea eleven and the effects of that good defense is having collateral damage on David Luiz.
The former Paris Saint-Germain central defender was at the heart of Chelsea’s defense last season as they won the Premier League during manager Antonio Conte’s first season for Chelsea. Luiz formed a solid partnership with a three-man defense alongside Cesar Azpilicuetta and Gary Cahill but has reportedly lost his place to the newcomers in the first team.
The Italian boss claimed that Luiz suffered an injury and was therefore out of action against the midweek 1-0 victory against Swansea City but was pictured at training in Cobham training complex on Thursday. Conte stated that Luiz had liquid in his knee and that’s why he wasn’t able to play.
However, there are rumors claiming that Luiz and Conte have reportedly fallen apart and are no longer on good terms with each other. Earlier this season, the defender questioned the tactics his manager used after a 3-0 loss to AS Roma in the Qualifying stages of the Champions League. This subsequently led to the exclusion of Luiz from the starting eleven against Manchester United when Alvaro Morata scored the winning goal, during the clash.
Therefore, the 30 year old who was spotted as a rising star in Benfica, could be involved in a shock move away from London for the second time in his footballing career and Manchester United, Real Madrid and Arsenal have been put on high alert.
Despite Luiz’ antics of the pitch and comical nature, there is no denying that he is one of the best and most improved defenders in the world at the moment. Luiz first joined Chelsea in 2011 and spent three years as a player winning the Champions League and FA Cup with the Blues. There were a lot of questions raised when there was a £50M price tag on him when PSG secured his services, but he proved the critics wrong and won all the four domestic competitions in France during his two-year stint.
On his return to Chelsea he was an integral part of Chelsea successful triumph in the Premier League. But now it seems that the English champions may have to offload the superstar. Luiz can also be deployed as a defensive midfielder as well as a centre back and with Manchester United ,Real Madrid and Arsenal are in real need of a solid footballer. Luiz may just be the remedy to solve their respective problems at the back.
