‘What seems like, not feels like!’ Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo may be disappointing a million of his fans this season with his performance so far, but never disappoints to be in the top of the news headlines. As the January transfer kicks off with the gigantic transfer of Coutinho to Barcelona, Chelsea have reportedly shown their interest to sign the current Ballon d’Or winner.
According to Spanish media, the ex-Manchester United man is keen on leaving the Santiago Bernabeu. The whole Madrid is rocked by the news that Ronaldo has decided to quit Madrid.
The Real Madrid maestro is reportedly ‘outraged’ and frustrated after being accused of evading €14.7m (£13m) in tax by Spanish prosecutors, which led him to think about a ‘fresh start’ outside Santiago Bernabeu.
A Spanish outlet claimed that The Blues owner Roman Abramovich would be desperate for a marquee signing in the summer, where the Portuguese superstar would be just tailor-fit.
Conte is unhappy with Chelsea’s lack of progress in the transfer market and is thinking about his future at Stamford Bridge.
So it will be a grand opportunity for the Blues’ owner to bring in Ronaldo and make his manager satisfied. It’s also claimed that Abramovich would even be willing to offer Eden Hazard to Madrid in order to secure Ronaldo’s transfer, with the Spanish champions are known to be admirers of the Belgian winger.
Chelsea, however, is expected to face strong competition from Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain in the battle for Ronaldo’s signature. Things would have been more romantic if Mourinho weren’t at Old Trafford. The cold relationship between Ronaldo and Mourinho is known to all.
United refused to release David De Gea nearly three years ago to Real Madrid and, in turn, Real stopped the Premier League giants from signing Alvaro Morata.
Speaking about Ronaldo’s future at Real, Zinedine Zidane played down any chance of his star player leaving. He said: “I can’t imagine a Real Madrid without Cristiano, not at all.
“He’s a Madrid player and he wants to finish his career here. I don’t see him playing anywhere else.”
Speaking about his future, the Portugal ace said: “Everything is open, all leagues. I may end my career here with Real Madrid. I’m just being honest. I don’t know what’s going to happen tomorrow. There are things that you kind of already has an idea, that to play one day for Barcelona would be almost impossible or to play for another English club other than Manchester, it’s very complicated. But that’s not 100 percent guaranteed. As I said before, there are no certainties in football.”
If Ronaldo gets off Real Madrid, it would be a huge vacancy in the attacking half of the Spanish Giant. Madrid owner Perez is looking for Harry Kane, who has been sensational in the last two seasons so far. He has topped the goal scorer list last time, and is leading the list so far this season too.
Kane is young and will have a bright future in Madrid whereas Ronaldo, who is 32, will be a great buy for Chelsea. Everyone knows what he can do. With Chelsea’s attack struggling from the start this season after the departure of Diego Costa, it will be a huge boost for the defending Champions if they can land Ronaldo next summer.
