Hitting Back At The Pundits-
Mesut Ozil has come under a lot of scrutiny over the past few weeks regarding his performances on the pitch, with things not going well for the London based club. Even the Arsenal pundits and legends have had a lot to say about the German midfielder’s work-rate on the pitch, which has not helped his team’s cause. The 28-year-old who joined Arsenal four seasons ago from Real Madrid has hit back at his critics now. In a recent Facebook post Ozil was quoted saying, “Personally, I have had to accept a lot of criticism during my time in London.”
“‘Too expensive, too greedy, bad body language, and lacking fight’ – this is what people have said about me.”
“Some of these comments are made by those who do not know me, some are made by former players – both successful and unsuccessful during their time here at the club.”
“Although criticism is something that all football players have to deal with, I nevertheless expected legends to behave like legends – my advice to these former Gunners: stop talking and start supporting!”
Ozil certainly is taking these critics in a bad way, but he has had a rather underwhelming campaign so far this new season.
He is not really happy at the moment and this could also be one reason why he might be considering a move away from the English giants, at the end of the current campaign.
Hopefully, if the club legends do decide to change their mentality and back the club instead of plain criticisms, the former Bremen man could deliver back to his best.
Latest Update On His Future-
The German international has not signed a new contract yet and is still stalling. With Sanchez leaving the club recently, he might be looking for other alternative options as well. With Henrikh Mkhitaryan all set to make his debut for the Gunners, there is some doubt about the former Real Madrid man’s future and whether or not he will be staying at the Emirates.
Wenger would be hoping that he does, after losing the Chilean international in the winter transfer window. The French manager will not want to lose another top player and only time will tell what will happen next.
The north London outfit face off against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium today and Wenger will be hoping that his team can beat a side, which will be full of confidence.
The Swans have already defeated Liverpool 1-0 in their previous match in the top flight of English football and secured a 1-1 draw in the FA Cup. against Notts County.
They will be playing at home and will want to keep building momentum, as they face off against the Londoners, who are trying their best to slowly climb up the points’ table as well.
Manchester City are clearly looking as the run-away winners this season and hopefully this effort that the club are putting in, at least helps them secure a Champions League spot for the upcoming season, if not more.
The League Cup final against Pep Guardiola’s side will also be a crucial fixture and it will be interesting to see now how things eventually develop.
