Former Manchester United Legend Speaks Out On Alexis Sanchez After Move

David Beckham recently spoke out on Alexis Sanchez’ move from Arsenal to Manchester United and the former ‘Galactico’ was quite “astonished” with the transfer. Read on to check out what he said: Having joined Manchester United only last week, the Alexis Sanchez saga has still not been digested by many football fans and David Beckham is one of them. The 42-year-old superstar stated in a recent Press in Miami, ahead of launching his Major League Soccer franchise, “I still can’t believe it’s happened, to be honest.

“When he’s been part of a club as big as Arsenal and then he moves a few hours away up north to the biggest club, it’s astonishing to see. We all wish him luck. I’m a Manchester United fan so I am excited about having someone of his talent wearing a Manchester United shirt – so it’s exciting times for us. “He added.

The former England captain began his senior career with Manchester United and made 265 Premier League appearances and scored 62 times, during his career-defining time at Old Trafford, Beckham won the Premier League six times, the Fa Cup twice and the Champions League in 1999. He then moved on to Real Madrid where he spent four seasons at the Spanish capital helping them win the La Liga in his final year at the club. Beckham then won the League trophy in America while playing for LA Galaxy in the Major League Soccer and also won the Ligue 1with Paris Saint Germain before retiring in 2013 with a stellar career for two decades winning 19 trophies.

Even Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho signed a contract extension with the Red Devils which would keep him at the club till 2020, and Beckham expressed his delight at the Portuguese boss remaining for a while longer at United.

“Of course he’s the right fit for Manchester United,” Beckham said. “We’re talking about Jose Mourinho. He’s one of the best managers in the game.

“Manchester United has had success over the last 25 years because we have had the stability that has run throughout our club.

“Sir Alex Ferguson – the amount of time he was the manager of the team – that’s why we were successful because we had the stability that ran through the club and that’s what we need going forward.

“Everyone is going to have their own opinion of [Mourinho] as a manager, him as a person, him as an individual. But is he the right person to lead Manchester United? Yes, of course, he is.” said Beckham.

Manchester United currently sits second in the Premier League table 12 points behind leaders and local neighbors Manchester City. And although Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City look favorites to win the Premier League this season, Mourinho’s United certainly look to be building a formidable side with Alexis Sanchez now added to their armory.

Sanchez was involved in a swap deal with Henrikh Mkhitaryan, with the Chilean superstar joining Manchester United while the Armenian joined Arsenal. Which team will get most of the benefits from this deal will only be determined after the end of the season.
