European giants Real Madrid are seriously considering the possibility of signing Manchester United player Anthony Martial. The 22 year old French international had a decent run for the English club so far, scoring 11 goals in 22 appearances in all competitions for the Jose Mourinho’s team.
After the arrival of Alexis Sanchez from Arsenal for a humongous fee, Martial’s position in Manchester United has got deteriorated. Martial missed three of the last four games of United and with his contract expiring at the end of next season, it is believed that Anthony Martial has starting looking for a way out.
Reports in England claim that the situation is getting terrible by the day. With Jose Mourinho not willing to discuss a contract extension and Alexis Sanchez starting games ahead of him, Anthony Martial finds himself in a tight spot.
Real Madrid are more than willing to capitalise on this turmoil that is now building up between the club and the player. Zinedine Zidane is hoping that a cut price deal could be on the cards as the player is likely to force a move.
Inter Milan and Tottenham Hotspur are also said to be interested in the player , but the chance to play for the current UCL winners would be too good to refuse for Martial.
Moreover, Real Madrid are in a dire need of a proper number 9. With Morata now plying his trade in England, and with no replacemnet signed Zidane doesn’t have a proper striker in reserve for struggling striker Karim Benzema.
Benzema may have long been considered as the striker Madrid needs , but he hasn’t been in the best of the form lately. And reports claim that the manager is running out of patience because of the Frenchman’s poor performance inside the box.
Real Madrid have stuck with the Frenchman through thick and thin in the decade he has been at the Santiago Bernabeu , but while people are talking about the end of Cristiano Ronaldo’s career at the top, it’s Karim Benzema who is actually faltering at the top.
Benzema joined Los Blancos from French club Lyon in 2009 as a powerful 21-year-old striker to lead the front line with fellow new boy Ronaldo.
A glorious career in Spain unfolded as the striker helped the team to a Copa Del Rey and La Liga title in his first three seasons.
However, while Madrid have gone on to dominate Europe and edge ahead of Barcelona in the eternal battle for the bragging rights in Spain, Benzema’s importance to the team has drastically declined over the years.
The three-time Champions League winner has played 54 matches for Madrid in the past year and has scored just 15 goals. He’s also failed to score in 41 of those 54 games.
The 30-year-old has only scored once in his last 12 games and found the back of the net twice in the league this season.
Anthony Martial at just 22, has still a long way to go and gives the French manager the much needed resource upfront.
Zidane is said to be a fan of his compatriot and should Manchester United fail to hold talks with their young prodigy and convince him of having a bright future at the “Theatre of Dreams”, the Spanish Giants are more than ready to go out all guns blazing to secure a deal for the player.
