Marcos Alonso plays in the right wing back position for the Blues under the management of Antonio Conte. Conte prefers to play with 3 center backs with two wing backs moving up and down. A player like Luke Shaw lacks many of the attributes to play as a wingback in the club like Chelsea. It is true that Chelsea need a good back up option for Marcos Alonso for a long season. They were linked with Alex Sandro through out the previous summer transfer window; but the move was not finalized then due to various circumstances.
