The Gunners’ fans will be delighted to hear the Arsenal have joined the race to sign Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale in this summer transfer window. A return to the Premier League is much anticipated after the Welshman spent five seasons with the Los Blancos. Bale rose to fame during his final season with north London side Tottenham Hotspur where he played in a more advanced left-back role.
However, the former Southampton man began his career at the Saint Mary’s before eventually making a move to Tottenham back in 2007 for a fee of just £7m. At that time Bale was known only as a left-back who could take some decent free-kicks. However, through the ranks, Bale transformed into an attacker who became an integral part of the Spurs team under then manager Harry Redknapp. His performances along with teammate Luka Modric took Spurs to a Champions League spot and in 2013, Bale was named in the UEFA Team of the Year.
After a stellar year in 2013, Bale was picked up by European giants Real Madrid for a then world record fee of €100.8m. The Galactico then helped his side in achieving La Decima after scoring the winning goal in the Champions League final as well as the Copa Del Rey final in his debut season with the Madrid outfit. Bale then went on to win the La Liga title with Real Madrid as well as two more Champions League titles at the Spanish capital.
However, despite all that success in his first few seasons at the club, Bale has now lost his place to many youngsters coming through the youth ranks.
The 28-year-old winger has started just 15 times for Madrid this season but has had a very productive return with 11 goals and one assist so far. Bale has struggled with injuries and could be offloaded in the summer with a host of elite clubs interested in recruiting the former Spurs man.
Arsenal lost key-man Alexis Sanchez in the January transfer window to Premier League rivals Manchester United and have not been able to find the ideal replacement for the Chilean attacker. Sanchez was the focal point for Arsene Wenger’s attack and everything went through the 29-year-old forward. However, the north London giants will be buzzing at the prospect of a new arrival at the Emirates.
Gareth Bale, already an experienced campaigner in the English League can set ablaze any defense with his speedy runs on the flanks and through the center of the pitch. Bale has reportedly fallen out with manager Zinedine Zidane and is desperate for a return to England. According to the news outlet, Diario Gol Arsenal is planning a massive summer signing in order for new arrivals Pierre Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette to bolster their attack even further. Bale would add a new dynamism with his pace and is lethal with his left-foot.
However, one major factor that would keep him from joining Arsenal is his past relationship with Tottenham Hotspur. The player will be eager to make a comeback in the Premier League, with Manchester United and Liverpool eager to add him to their squads as well.
