Real Madrid has reportedly identified Mohamed Salah as their prime target in the summer transfer window. The Egyptian international has been absolutely brilliant for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool ever since arriving from AS Roma and has taken the Premier League by storm so far.
When Phillipe Coutinho left for Barcelona in the summer for a club record transfer fee of £142m, the Liverpool faithful were extremely disappointed to let him go. But cut to about three months ever since and Coutinho seems long forgotten at Merseyside because the Scouser’s have a new hero at Anfield and he is none other than Mohamed Salah.
The 25-year-old arrived at Liverpool from Serie A side AS Roma last summer and is ripping up the record books at his debut season with the club. A transfer fee of £37m seems a far-fetched bargain with Salah’s return ratio at the moment. He has been leading the Premier League goal-scoring charts with 28 goals so far and is a sure shot contention to break the all-time record for most goals scored in a season. His incredible performances this season have earned Liverpool victories in the most difficult of games but have also attracted interest from La Liga giants Real Madrid.
With the Spanish champions having a rather underwhelming campaign so far, Real Madrid is planning a massive summer haul of players that will leave the club in the next transfer window in order to bring in new faces at the Santiago Bernabeu. And according to many reports, Salah is the heir to Welsh superstar Gareth Bale. The 28-year-old winger has been plagued with injuries over the past few seasons and has reportedly lost his place in Zinedine Zidane’s starting line-up. This has linked Bale with a move away from Madrid with Salah as a potential replacement.
However, Salah is probably the hottest property in Europe at the moment and is leading Liverpool’s attack with immense confidence so the Reds will definitely not sell their most valued asset. According to Don Balon, the Merseyside club is looking to slap a €200 million price tag on Salah which will probably fend off Madrid for a while. But we have seen before in the past that price tags have been summoned quite comfortably with teams who have deep pockets.
Although at £175m, Salah would become the second most expensive transfer after Neymar, Liverpool may have second thoughts of selling they Egyptian who could be considered just a one season wonder. The 25-year-old has been out of this world this season, but how long can he keep this up at Anfield?
Salah is also not the only one that Real Madrid are interested in as Serie A star Paulo Dybala has drawn interest from Real Madrid. The Juventus main man has been brilliant for the Italian champions and is keen on playing for a bigger club in the near future.
According to me, Salah will not be a Real Madrid player next season as he is being absolutely adored by the Anfield faithful. Although Klopp will have to make sure that he stays in the summer because avoiding mouth-watering offers can be a difficult task.
