Preview : Chelsea Vs Southampton – Can The Blues Finish In The Top Four?

Chelsea will face the Saints in the away match in Premier League on Saturday. It will surely be a match to watch out for the football fans of the Premier League. These two sides will again face each other in the Semi Final of FA Cup. Chelsea are now situated at the fifth position in the League Table. They are 10 Points behind the fourth placed Chelsea side. There is only few matches left in this season. It is seeming to be impossible for the Blues to make up the difference of 10 points in this short period of time. On the other hand, Southampton are on the verge of relegation. They are situated at 18th position in the League Table. They need to win almost every matches from now on to stay in the Premier League next season.

Southampton will be keen to get a win against a disoriented Chelsea side in front of their home crowd. They will hope that other teams in the relegation zone will surely lose points in the upcoming fixtures. We can see many individual battles in every position in the field gearing up for this clash. Alvaro Morata vs Shane Long, Thibaut Courtois vs Fraser Forster, Ryan Bertrand vs Marcos Alonso, Cedric Soares vs Victor Moses are on the cards in this match. So, we can say that a great game is awaiting for us.

Team News :

Chelsea :

Andreas Christensen will be available for the Blues after missing the previous match. David Luiz is unavailable due to knee injury.  Thibaut Courtois will yet again surely start in goal while Christensen, Azpilicueta and Rudiger might start for Chelsea in a three man central defense, while Moses and Alonso will be there at two flanks.  Fabregas and Kante will always be present in the heart of the midfield for Chelsea. Willian, Giroud and Hazard will be there upfront for the Blues against, which will be a boost for Antonio Conte and his plans of beating Southampton.

Southampton:

Fraser Forster can possibly make the difference on the night if he is able to keep out the opposition strikers and prevent them from scoring goals at the start of the game and can keep his team in it, at crucial times.

The defence will once again comprise of Soares, Yoshida, Stephens and Bertrand, who will have their work cut-out for them on the night. It will be really tough to keep the hosts out, though they will try their best to do so. Oriol Romeu and Lemina will play as defensive midfielders while Tadic, Davis and Boufal will play in the attacking midfield position for the Saints. Shane Long might get a start at the upfront for the Saints against the Blues in this match.
