Talking Points: Why Chelsea’s Narrow Win Over Swansea City Was Really Crucial For The Blues

Chelsea have got a narrow win against Swansea City in the Premier League with a margin of 1-0 at The Liberty Stadium. The win meant a lot for the Blues in terms of their chances of finishing in the top four positions in the Premier League table. Fabregas’s left footed strike at the fourth minute of the match was the decisive moment.

Here are the talking points of the match between Chelsea and Swansea City in the Premier League :-

1. Cesc Fabregas Scored After An Eternity :

There were a lot of speculations over Cesc Fabregas’ position in the starting line up of the Blues. The player is getting slower day by day and age is clearly affecting his gameplay. But, there always remains a value of the experience and that is the cause why he has got the Goal in this match. A miss pass of a Swansea City player was followed by Eden Hazard. His blistering pace was enough to destroy the Swansea City defense who were not yet settled after the beginning of the match. Hazard has provided a brilliant ball towards Fabregas who was coming from the right side. Fabregas’ left footed strike on the running ball at the fourth minute of the match was considered to be the winning goal at the end of the day. He was right there in the position to get himself in for the Goal and that’s where the experience matters the most.

2. Chelsea Were Unable To Extend Their Lead :

In most of the matches, Chelsea have drawn in this season, they have scored first and were not able to protect the lead from there. The same thing could have happened in this match also. The Blues were unable to find another goal which would give them the breathing space in the match.

3. Kante And Azpilicueta Played Expectionally Well :

Two players of this Chelsea should be praised for this much needed win against Swansea City.  The Frenchman N’Golo Kante is proving his worth day by day. There are almost no matches in his Chelsea career where he has played well and the team have not won the game. He is surely the main man in the midfield for the Blues. They should be desperate to keep the hold of Kante in the next season too as there are various clubs awaiting in the Transfer Market to buy this player. If Kante is the main man in the field , Azpilicueta is the main man in the defense for the Blues. His performance was also noteworthy to keep the clean sheet in this match.

4. Swansea In The Relegation Zone :

Swansea City are now on the verge of the relegation zone with 33 points in 35 matches. They are only one point above the Saints in the Premier League table. So, it would be an interesting battle in the relegation zone too this season.

5. Top Four Finish Still Possible For The Blues :

With this win, Chelsea reduced the gap to two with Spurs with 3 games remaining in the League. Liverpool also lost two crucial points against Stoke City earlier in the day. So, there is still some hope left for Chelsea to finish in the top four positions in the Premier League this season.

Sometimes it is just important to win and if the Blues keep producing results, they will build a strong and positive momentum, as they head into the FA Cup final against Manchester United.
