Why This Is One Of The Biggest Wins For Manchester United This Season, As Tottenham Fail To Deliver Yet Again

Manchester United faced Tottenham Hotspur in the semi final of FA Cup on Saturday, in a game that ended 2-1, with the Red Devils securing a crucial win sending them to the final of the cup competition. The match was surely going to be really important for both the sides, who were having a trophyless campaign thus far. United are situated at the second position in the league table. They were unable to win any trophy this season till now. They were beaten by Sevilla in the round of 16 clash of the UEFA Champions League few days ago.

It might still be a trophyless season for the Red Devils, however the result of this match will be very much important for the scenario of the job of Jose Mourinho.

If the Manchester based side do not win any trophy in this season, it could well be the end of Jose Mourinho’s career at the club. The FA Cup is going to be that much vital for Jose Mourinho and his team. The players are getting criticized in every possible way by their fans.

If we consider the performance of Manchester United in the last season, they are performing way better in this season. They were at the sixth position in the Premier League table in the previous season.

On the other hand, they are now at the second position; but at the end of the day one trophy matters a lot to the fans. They had won three trophies in the previous season including the Europa League. So, this time also they will be desperate to win the FA Cup to salvage their season.

It was a hard fought win for United, who will now play yet another FA Cup final, though it is still not confirmed who will be facing them. Though Spurs did take an early lead, they were not able to finish off the multiple chances that they got and ended up losing a game, that they should have surely won.

Scorers:

Dele Alli – 11

Alexis Sanchez- 24

Ander Herrera- 62

Though, the north London giants took the lead in the game during the first half, their best efforts could not help them hold on to the win and they eventually conceded a couple of goals to give United a chance to win a title this term.

This win came at a crucial time for the Portuguese manager’s side, as they head towards the end of the season and will be hoping to finish in second spot in the top flight of English football.

A cup win will surely boost their morale, if they beat the winner of the Chelsea-Southampton clash that takes place today and it could help build confidence for their stars even further, who will be playing at the World Cup in Russia.
