Manchester United Boss Jose Mourinho Makes Shocking Claim About Champions Manchester City Side, Find Out What?

Jose Mourinho

Jose Mourinho has claimed a big thing after Manchester City’s triumph in the Premier League this season. Mourinho told that there was nothing very odd about Manchester City to be the Champions of England with so much dominance. Mourinho added that there were the core of team having the experience of winning the Premier League title previously under Roberto Mancini or Manuel Pellegrini. So, naturally they have the winning mentality with them. That thing matters the most in the opinion of the Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho. Manchester United are currently situated at the second position in the Premier League table. They have defeated Manchester City in the last Manchester Derby; but they were never at par with Manchester City throughout the whole season.

Few days ago, Pep Guardiola claimed that it would be easier for any side to win the Champions League than the Premier League. Guardiola also explained the situation to others. He told that a team could win the Champions League by playing well in 7 knockout games whereas in Premier League any opponent can beat the other one on their own day. The team which will win the Premier League have to play well throughout the whole season in 38 matches. They have to play well consistently and maintain a good rhythm.

Probably it was the reply of Jose Mourinho on this comment of Pep Guardiola. There is a common factor associated with Pep Guardiola that he has won all big trophies with big names. On the other hand, Jose Mourinho has a career record of winning the Champions League with Porto and Inter Milan. So, there is a cold war always going on between them. Also, Jose Mourinho was the manager of Real Madrid when Pep Guardiola was the manager of Barcelona at the same time few seasons back in La Liga. So, there is an old rivalry going on between them always.

Now, we have to take a glance whether his claim over Pep Guardiola’s Champions Manchester City side justified or not. There are five players in the Manchester City side who have the experience of winning the Premier League previously. Vincent Kompany, Sergio Aguero, Yaya Toure, David Silva and Fernandinho are falling into that category. On the other hand, Manchester United have six players in their current squad who have the experience of winning the Premier League previously under Alex Ferguson few seasons back. David De Gea, Phil Jones, Chris Smalling, Michael Carrick, Ashley Young and Valencia are amongst those players.  So, the claim of Jose Mourinho is not justified in this sense.

If we consider the spending of Manchester City for the last few seasons, we will find that Pep Guardiola always preferred those players who have won the domestic League title with their club in the previous season. On the other hand, Manchester United’s big money signings Paul Pogba, Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez are not able to provide the same for their side in this season. So, Manchester United have to spend wisely from the next season to match the quality of Manchester City to be one of the contenders of English Premier League.
