Injury shocker for Chelsea as the loanee is set to miss the rest of the season. Michy Batshuayi has been unfortunately been ruled out for the remainder of the season after picking up a serious knock against Bundesliga rivals Schalke 04. Batshuayi was bought down in the extra time by Schalke keeper Stambouli as the latter made a fantastic clearance but in the follow through he ended up hurting the Belgian who was then carted off on a stretcher.
Medical reports eariler stated that the ankle might have broken but it was untrue as few more tests were conducted and the reason came out to be a severe ligament damage. The knock is so severe that it has ruled him out for the rest of the season and the Belgian is also on the brinks to lose out on a well deserved World Cup call.
However their is still a possibility of him to make it to Russia but it all depends on how quick he can recover. Ligament injuries take up to 6 to 8 weeks to heal completely. The Chelsea striker will be hoping to get 100% fit by June in order to make it to the biggest tournament in football history. One of the main reasons for him to leave the Blues in the winter transfer market.
Michy wasted no time in making a good first impression as he bagged a brace in his Borussia Dortmund debut. The 24 year old Belgium international has so far made 13 appearances for the Die Schwarzgelben in all competitions and has been in prolific form as he has found the back of the net 9 times and has only chipped in 1 assist.
Michy Batshuayi took to Twitter to show his dissappointment over the injury and posted a heartfelt message for BVB fans he tweeted: “Well its not good news for now, my season is probably over, and i wont be able to pay @BVB back for their confidence … Thank you all the amazing amount of love i received since yesterday. Wishing my teammates the best for the final days. See you soon”
Dortmund manager Peter Stoger said “I didn’t think it looked like the kind of injury that he would be back from quickly,”
“I hope, of course, that i’m mistaken. I can’t yet say anything specific, other than the fact that he’s in pain and will now be examined in more detail. Hopefully it’s not bad as it looks.”
Rehabilitation and recovery for loan players is always carried out at Chelsea as they have a world class back room staff and state of the art facilities which can help an individual return faster on the pitch and hence Michy too will return back to London for his recovery and he may not be risked to go back again to Germany to complete his stint.
Michy Batshuayi has shown his Potential in the Bundesliga and performed really well for the side. He is also included in Bundesliga Team of the season for this brilliant performance at the back end of the season.
