The Blues are reportedly front-runners to securing the services for Bayern Munich hitman Robert Lewandowski this summer transfer window. And his ARRIVAL’S at Stamford Bridge could keep some key players from leaving the club. Chelsea shelled out a massive £60m last summer, in order to bring in Spaniard Alvaro Morata from La Liga side Real Madrid. However, despite having a rather good start to life in the Premier League Morata struggled to find the back of the net in the latter stages of the competition and endured a shocking 13 game goal drought blended with a shortage in confidence after a back injury. Thus, after a poor debut campaign in the English League Morata is almost set to exit the West London club after just one season with the Blues.
Olivier Giroud also arrived from across London as North London side Arsenal decided to sell him to Chelsea in the January transfer window. The Frenchman’s arrival has pushed Morata further down the pecking order
But Chelsea has already lined up a top class replacement for the 25-year-old centre-forward in the form of Bayern attacker Robert Lewandowski. The big master marksman has helped the Bavarian giants to win four Bundesliga titles in four consecutive seasons and wants a new challenge in order to win the elusive Champions League. The Bundesliga club has remained adamant that the club will not be looking to sell their prized asset in the summer transfer window after he netted 29 goals in the league.
La Liga giants Real Madrid were also keen on signing the Polish striker to replace the misfiring Karim Benzema in their front line but have reportedly dropped their interest after his dreadful performances in the Champions League last four. Lewandowski barely had any impact for Bayern in the semi-finals of the Champions League while Karim Benzema scored a brace over the two legs to help his side reach the final of the tournament.
With Lewandowski wanting to move away from the Allianz Arena, Chelsea is now surprised favorites to sign the 29-year-old forward and bring him to Stamford Bridge in the coming transfer window. There is no doubt that Lewandowski would be a superstar at West London because of his attributes as a top scorer. He is fast, strong, lethal in front of goal and can also hold up the ball to bring in his teammates into play.
Chelsea’s top priorities for the summer transfer window will be Belgian duo of winger Eden Hazard and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois as they are both linked with a move to Real Madrid. But with no Champions League football, it will certainly be a task for the transfer board to keep hold of their stars. Chelsea though may have to sell some of their stars that are on loan at different clubs across Europe in order to generate funds for new arrivals at the club.
Although I think that Antonio Conte’s future is also very important if Chelsea is ready to retain their players because the Italian has played a big part in grooming these stars.
