Latest: £12.1m Fine And Two-Year Suspended Sentence For Cristiano Ronaldo

There has been a final settlement in the Cristiano Ronaldo tax fraud case, which was one of the reasons why he left Real Madrid and joined Serie A champs Juventus in the first place. The Portugal international has officially accepted a £12.1m fine, along with a two-year suspended prison sentence for the ongoing case in Spain.

For those who do not know- A suspended prison sentence means that if he commits any crime during these two years, he will not just get a prison sentence for that crime, but his two years of this one will be added to that as well.

It is believed that the former Manchester United man left the Bernabeu due to the lack of support that he got from the club president Florentino Perez in this case. He would have hoped that the club would have been rather supportive for one of the best players that they had at present (if not their best player ever).

Despite that, it was not the case and the 33 year old superstar had to go at it all by himself. Things have not played out exactly in his favour and he has had to suffer the consequences due to that.

After winning three consecutive Champions League titles with the club, the player decided to move on with his life and made the switch to Turin after the World Cup. He completed a deal, which would see the Spanish giants make £100m from his sale, a fee that is high for any player, let alone a veteran of his age.

With that being said now, the case has finally been put to rest and Ronaldo will pay the money that he needs to, in order to get things sorted out and start off fresh in Italy. He will be hoping to win some major titles with the Italian giants, like he has been doing since he made his debut in the top flight of English football for the Red Devils.

Luckily, he will not be going to jail and can continue to do what he does best and perform on the pitch and make his fans happy, all across the globe. Juve will be hoping that he can continue to play the way that he was doing at the tournament in Russia and can finally help them win Europe’s top cup competition, a trophy that they have been trying to win over the years but have failed.

It will not be easy for Ronaldo and co., though another positive news now is that Zidane will be joining them at the Italian club soon as the new Sporting Director, which might help them bring in more top players. Things have really changed for the Real Madrid ace in quick succession.

At one point he was dreaming of retiring in Spain and now, he is in Italy for a new chapter in his life. The good news is that he has been handed a boost in a matter that could have hurt his reputation in ways worse than what it already has. All’s well that ends well.
