Alvaro Morata Or Olivier Giroud : Maurizio Sarri First Choice Striker Against Newcastle?

Chelsea are playing expectionally well in this season under the management of Maurizio Sarri in the Premier League this season. After the shocking 2-0 defeat against Manchester City in the Community Shield match, the Blues have made a comeback in the first two matches of the Premier League. Maurizio Sarri was able to win his first match in charge for the Blues against Huddersfield Town with a margin of 2-0. In the next match, the Blues have pulled off a great victory against the Gunners with a margin of 3-2. So, six points in two matches is more or less a perfect start for the Blues as they will now take on Newcastle United at St James Park.

Now, the talking point in the town is about Alvaro Morata who has finally scored one goal against the Gunners since his arrival at Stamford Bridge. Here we will try to analyse whether the goal of Alvaro Morata has saved his Chelsea career or not. There were several talks in the media about Alvaro Morata’s goal drought for Chelsea; but somehow somewhere there was a belief within Alvaro Morata that he can score on his day. The Spanish striker has proved himself on the big day as he has given Chelsea the lead of 2-0 in the London Derby.

César Azpilicueta has provided a brilliant long ball to Alvaro Morata and Alvaro has picked up the ball quite well. Then, he has to dribble past Shkodran Mustafi and after that, his shot has beaten the veteran Goalkeeper of Arsenal, Petr Cech whose reflex is not seeming to be in the same place as before. Olivier Giroud has come as a substitute of Alvaro Morata in the second half of the match. Giroud did not get some clear cut chances but failed to convert those half chances into goals.

The rumours were very much strong before the Arsenal game that Maurizio Sarri might drop Alvaro Morata in this big match. But Maurizio Sarri has kept faith in the Spanish striker. He has understood that the centre forward is lacking confidence in front of the Goal. That’s why he was not able to convert some of the chances that came into his way. Alvaro Morata’s ball distribution also got better in the match against the Gunners. So, it is quite obvious that Maurizio Sarri will prefer Alvaro Morata again to start against Newcastle United.

Olivier Giroud is eagerly waiting in the bench to start a game for the Blues. He will surely get his chances in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Europa League matches. The French striker will be keen to prove himself once again to make sure that he is starting in a Premier League match. Olivier Giroud is a good striker and his physical presence in the box is always a threat for the opponents. But, in this age it would be impossible for the Frenchman to start all the matches of the season for the Blues. So, we can say that, Maurizio Sarri will rotate between the two strikers throughout the whole season to bring out the best for them.
