Manchester United were defeated by Brighton and Hove Albion with a margin of 3-2. It was a poor game played by Manchester United and the scoreline is not suggesting the clear image. Manchester United were way too much poor in this match. The home team Brighton and Hove Albion were way better than Manchester United throughout the whole match. It was seeming that one team came with proper plan and the other team is playing a clueless football. Here are talking points for the match between Manchester United and Brighton and Hove Albion :

1. Poor Midfield Of Manchester United :

Nemanja Matic is badly needed for Manchester United in this season. The Serbian midfielder is injured and the team is already missing him. Manchester United has not made any record summer signing in this summer transfer window. The young Brazilian midfielder Fred was brought from Shakhtar Donetsk in this summer transfer window. The fans would have thought that Fred will be the future of this Manchester United side. But, the performance of the newcomer was not up to the mark for Manchester United. Nemanja Matic generally plays a role of the defensive midfielder for Manchester United. But in this Manchester United side no one is able to play that role. Manchester United need to play Marouane Fellaini in this position instead of Andreas Pereira. The young midfielder is still not ready to play in the first team of a big club like Manchester United. The three men midfield comprising of Fred, Pogba and Andreas is not looking good for Manchester United. A statistics will prove it :

Paul Pogba vs Brighton:

15 – Misplaced passes (most on team)
6 – Dispossessed (most on pitch)
6 – Fouls (most on team)

2. Wingers Are Letting Manchester United Down :

Jose Mourinho has opted to play a 4-3-3 formation with Juan Mata and Anthony Martial at both the flanks. The players are not playing that much well. Once, Jose Mourinho has let Juan Mata go to join Manchester United from Chelsea as his work rate was poor and it does not match with Jose Mourinho’s strategy. The same thing is applicable for Anthony Martial too. Both of them were useless in the first half of the match. Keeping Marcus Rashford in bench might be the worst decision, Jose Mourinho has taken ahead of this match.

3. Third Season Syndrome For Jose Mourinho?

Jose Mourinho is not very much lucky in this third season for a club. Few seasons back at Chelsea after winning the Premier League title in the previous season, Jose Mourinho was sacked in this third season in his second term at Stamford Bridge. Chelsea were seeming to be in relegation battle in that season. Is the same thing going to happen this time with Manchester United too? While the teams like Chelsea and Manchester City are playing a beautiful attacking football, Manchester United are still playing that defensive football. But this is not going to be effective in this season as it seems. The so called small teams like Brighton and Hove Albion have found an antidote of this system. So, the time has come for Jose Mourinho to change things otherwise he will be sacked in the middle of this season.
