Match Report : Liverpool Dominates, Tottenham Really Poor, Firmino Incident, Lamela Consolation

Liverpool have got a great win against Tottenham Hotspur in the away match. It was probably the toughest match on paper for the Reds till date in the Premier League. Tottenham Hotspur were in good form. They have only lost one match in this Premier League so far and that too against Watford who have the cent percent winning record in the Premier League so far. The Reds have also won all of their four previous encounters in the Premier League.

Liverpool have been in great form in this season. They have now completed their fifth consecutive victories in five matches so far in this season. Both the teams have tried to win the match but Tottenham Hotspur clearly suffered a bit without the presence of their top Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris. Hugo Lloris missed the match due to thigh injury. Michel Vorm played in place of Lloris and the first goal of Liverpool was clearly his mistake. It was a corner from James Milner, the inswinger came right at the path of the Goalkeeper. Michel Vorm tried to fist it out; but failed to do so. The ball has gone straight to Wijnaldum. The Dutch International has headed it towards the Goal. Referee has confirmed the Goal with the help of Goal Line Technology. The first half has ended with Liverpool leading 1-0 against Tottenham Hotspur in the away match with the Goal from Wijnaldum.

Tottenham Hotspur desperately wished to make a comeback in the match. Their manager Mauricio Pochettino has made two good changes as he has brought in Erik Lamela and Heung Min Son in the second half of the match. Moussa Dembele was piss poor throughout the first half. So, he was taken off by Mauricio Pochettino. But it didn’t help much as Liverpool have got their second goal of the match at the beginning of the second half. It was a brilliant run from Sadio Mane. He has beautifully directed a cross towards Roberto Firmino. Tottenham Hotspur’s defense tried a lot to stop that ball from the Goalkeeper. But the ball has somehow reached to the feet of Roberto Firmino and he just tapped the ball into the Goal. Liverpool were 2-0 ahead in the match and it was looking like a comfortable win for the Reds. Somehow Tottenham Hotspur tried to salvage something from this match. They tried to make a comeback with a late goal in the stoppage time.

It was a corner taken by Kieran Trippier. The ball came to Christian Eriksen and he has given it to Erik Lamela who scored the goal for Tottenham Hotspur at the dying minutes of the match. It was a great goal as the left footed volley was perfectly placed into the Goal by Erik Lamela. The absence of Dele Alli was the reason why Spurs did not dominate in the midfield in this match. Liverpool completed their five match winning record with this important away victory against Tottenham Hotspur. They will face Southampton in the next week to make it six out of six.
