Former Chelsea Defender Now Being Eyed By Manchester United And Tottenham

Tottenham

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing to make a move for the 23 year old star Bournemouth defender Nathan Ake in the winter transfer window. The manager of Manchester United, Jose Mourinho wished to have a good centre-back from the beginning of the summer transfer window of 2017-18 season. But, the negotiations have not resulted in finalization of a deal. The Red Devils have already four centre-backs in their squad. They are Phil Jones, Victor Lindelof, Chris Smalling and Eric Bailly. But according to Jose Mourinho, they are not good enough to play in the top level of European football. Manchester United are playing in the Champions League in this season also. So, the Red Devils really needed the squad depth. The club management of Manchester United did not realize that in the summer transfer window.

Edward has failed to sign any centre back in the summer transfer window for Manchester United. The talks with the star Belgian centre back of Tottenham Hotspur, Toby Alderweireld has gone further; but the transfer fee was not agreed between both the sides. That’s why the deal has not been finalized. Now, Jose Mourinho is trying several combination in the central defense; but nothing is working out for him as of now.

The manager of Manchester United, Jose Mourinho has substituted the star centre back of his side Eric Bailly just at the 19th minute of the match. Some might say that it is a tactical move; the team was already two goals down. Mourinho brought in Juan Mata in place of Eric Bailly to add some attacking flavour in his side. But it is clear that the relationship between Jose Mourinho and Eric Bailly is not going well. The relationship between these two have started to get poor from the second half of the previous season. Jose Mourinho has opted to give chances to the other three centre backs more than Eric Bailly. When he was asked about the reason, Jose Mourinho told that Eric Bailly’s national side are not playing in the World Cup while the national sides of other three centre backs are playing in the World Cup. So, it is better to give chances to these three centre backs so that they can be selected for their respective National side in the World Cup.

On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur are also eyeing to make a move for Nathan Ake as a perfect replacement of Toby Alderweireld. Toby Alderweireld is ageing and he is not able to deliver the same performance in every week. Nathan Ake is a perfect backup option for the North London side right now. Nathan Ake’s current club Bournemouth’s manager Eddie Howe is really impressed with the playing style of the young defender. He has also praised the leadership quality of Nathan Ake on and off the field. So, the Chelsea academy graduate will surely be a good signing for any of these two Premier League sides in the next winter transfer window and we might see a bidding war for this player too.
