According to recent reports, Liverpool is looking to sign star quality attacker in the form of Napoli’s Lorenzo Insigne in the January transfer window. The Reds’ manager Jurgen Klopp is completely aware that he needs to add more firepower to his attack if Liverpool is to win the Premier League title this season.
Liverpool has had a great start to the new season with Jurgen Klopp’s high-intensity football paying off dividends but off late have had somewhat of a reality check after defeats to Chelsea and Napoli. The Liverpool front three are not yet finding their rhythm but the Merseyside club is still joint top of the Premier League along with Chelsea and Manchester City earning a hard-fought point against each of them. The main reason as to why Liverpool’s front three are not managing to break down stubborn defenses is that of the fact that they are too one dimensional and this has prompted Klopp to look into the winter transfer market in order to add a different type of player to his squad. Due to the injury of English midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Liverpool have struggled for that creativity which used to link the attacking trio.
With the recent rumors of Barcelona showing a keen interest in only one Liverpool forward, Roberto Firmino, Klopp has another headache to deal with. Firmino has managed to take his game to the next level under Klopp’s guidance over the past few seasons and that has prompted interest from the Catalonian giants. Liverpool has failed to keep hold of their superstars from the clutches of Barcelona over the recent past. Back in the summer of 2014, Uruguayan superstar Luis Suarez decided that its time to make a move to the Camp Nou after the World Cup bite storm for a £75 million move and then Brazilian playmaker Philippe Coutinho handed in his transfer request last winter transfer window when he realized that Barcelona was calling. During last season’s Champions League final, Liverpool failed to find any inspiration after Egyptian star Mohamed Salah left the pitch with a shoulder injury and Klopp wants to head into the transfer market to bolster his attack in the winter transfer window.
After a 1-0 loss in the Champions League to Napoli in Italy, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was very impressed by the late goal scorer Lorenzo Insigne. Having a close-up view of the Italian starlet, Klopp has urged the Liverpool transfer board to snap up the 27-year-old in the upcoming winter transfer window.
A great trait that Insigne possesses is that he can play anywhere along the front line and even be used as a second striker. His hard-working ethic would fit into Klopp’s game style quite perfectly and with Liverpool struggling to create chances, Insigne’s ability and skill can quicken up the pace even further.
One major issue for Liverpool is Napoli’s asking price for Insigne, whose release clause expires in the summer of 2022, and club president Aurelio De Laurentiis hinted that Insigne would not be leaving the Partenopei anytime soon, “Insigne? He has a symbolic release clause. With Raiola, we decided that we are only going to sell him for £180m. It’s not a written agreement but a verbal one. £180m, right?”
