Ruben Loftus-Cheek who was pretty certain of leaving the club in the January transfer window should rethink his decision as per Chelsea legend Dennis Wise. The former Blues footballer feels it will be of no use for Loftus-Cheek to go on another loan stint as he has played himself in favour of Maurizio Sarri off late. The England international was not happy with the minutes he was getting but and there were rumours of him leaving the Stamford Bridge in January.
Wise feels that it is of no use for Loftus-Cheek to go on another loan stint as he has played himself in favour of Maurizio Sarri off late. The England international was not happy with the minutes he was getting and there were rumours of him leaving the Stamford Bridge in January. He was once again expected to start against Brighton, but the Italian boss did not play him.
Various reports mooted the fact that the 22-year old midfielder will make his way to Crystal Palace for his second stint. But Dennis Wise does not think that it will be the best move for him at the moment. He questioned his move and said that despite his few outings in the Premier League and Europa League, he has bagged six goals altogether.
Dennis Wise was quizzed by Evening Standard on whether the highly-rated midfielder should look for a loan, a Blues legend said: “No, I don’t think he should.
“He [Sarri] has played him a number of times. He has got competition for places but why would Loftus-Cheek want to go on loan?
“I will pick Crystal Palace just because he went there on loan. Why would you want to go there on loan, to a team where you will play a lot of games but you will be in a battle down the bottom when you can play in a team full of top international players, fighting to win trophies and trying to get in the Champions League?”
He further continued, “I think he has improved so much. This is a process for him and I think it is important he stays at Chelsea and he fights.”
“He is very close to being one of the players who could take one of those shirts and stay in there and he has to carry that on until the end of the season. He has got the opportunity to do it now that he has thought of in a different way than when he went out on loan.”
It was the loan move to Crystal Palace which earned him a spot in the England national team as the 22-year old midfield was a part of Gareth Southgate’s England side which made its way till the semi-finals in Russia World Cup. The competition in the squad for the first eleven is fierce and it is also being reported that Chelsea may go full throttle for Barcelona’s Denis Suarez as a replacement for Cesc Fabregas, who may take his leave from Stamford Bridge with growing interest from AC Milan.
So the competition is only going to increase in the coming days and it is something which may hinder Loftus-Cheek’s overall development as a player and it is something he should be wary of.
