Chelsea midfielder Cesc Fabregas has reportedly held talks with Serie A side AC Milan regarding his future after he decides to move away from Stamford Bridge after he runs down his contract at the end of the season. The 31-year old looks all set to join the Serie A as there has been no public suggestion of a contract renewal. Fabregas has been limited to 10 appearances this season in all competition under Maurizio Sarri, who prefers midfielders like Matteo Kovacic, N’golo Kante and Jorginho. Fabregas has evidently fallen down the pecking order under Sarri and an exit suits all parties.
With all the news surrounding the transfer MilanNews.it editor Antonio Vitiello has reported that Milan representatives have held fresh talks with the player’s agent and the Milan officials in this week with negotiations reaching a potential agreement on personal terms.
“Today, new contacts between Milan and agent of Fabregas, the negotiation continues. Talks of a contract of two and a half years, the parties are still far apart but there would be a willingness to do the operation.”
With the talks almost confirmed it seems Fabregas’ stay in West London may cut short with a shock exit in January transfer window itself. Reports suggest that there are talks of two and a half year contract with the player put on the table through both the parties are far from reaching an agreement as of now.
Milan’s injury crisis will be somewhat mended if Fabregas joins the Serie A giants in January with players like Lucas Biglia out until new year and Giacomo Bonaventura is also unavailable till the end of the next season as he will undergo surgery on his knee.
Gattuso will be eager to bring in reinforcements in the middle of the park considering the absentees, and Fabregas will fit the bill of an experienced midfielder with his astute leadership and passing qualities. The Rossoneri have also agreed a move with Flamengo wunderkind Lucas Paqueta as noted by Sky Sport Italia for a deal worth €35m. Paqueta has been very impressive in his native Brazilian League. AC Milan signee Lucas Paqueta was among the winners of Brazil’s prestigious Bola de Prata (Silver Ball) awards on Monday.
Gattuso is looking to bolster his side and push for the Champions League spot in the second half of their league campaign a with more depth in their midfield the forward will get more opportunities to score goals, especially when there will be someone of Fabregas’ calibre in the midfield.
The Rossoneri have moved up to fourth place in the Serie A league table this past weekend after playing out a 2-1 win against Parma at home. They are in fourth place with 25 points 4 points behind their eternal rival and thrid placed Internazionale. Lazio, on the other hand, are in close vicinity of Milan with 24 points sitting right under Gattuso’s men in the league table. With Cesc Fabregas’ addition almost through it will lift the side to return back to Europe’s most elite league.
