Manchester City academy product, Rabbi Matondo has reportedly rejected a new contract offer from Manchester City. The young Welshman has been under radar by a number of German clubs, Bayern Munich showing the most interest among them. Matando is said to be the fastest player on the club, which consist of players like Walker, Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling. Matendo earned his international cap for Wales against Albania last year and has earned quite a bright future on his name.
Rabbi Matondo can be following hiscounterpart, Jadon Sancho’s footsteps to move away from Manchester City in order to gain more first team experience. The Sun say Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, Borussia Monchengladbach, and RB Leipzig are all interested after watching the forward play in a UEFA youth clash against Hoffenhiem earlier in the season. Rabbi Matondo grew up in the low lying areas of Cardiff and he has definetly seen the struggle to play the sport. While he is now surrounded by the astonishing riches of Manchester City Football Club, Matondo credits his childhood with making him the person and the player he is.
Matondo’s current deal expires after next season but City are said to be wary of another youngster running down his contract after losing Spain Under-21 star Brahim Diaz to Real Madrid. The forward has already netted seven goals in 10 games at Under-23s level for Manchester City this season with his most impressive game being UEFA Youth Cup against Hoffenheim.
Pep Guardiola has always admired his academy youngster, “He is only 18 and yet to play a single minute of first team football but Matondo, a forward, is creating a heck of a stir and is being heavily touted as the latest in a growing line of young Welsh talent.” Guardiola has given chances to Matondo on training with the first team.
Similar To Hudson-Odoi?
Another situation where Bayern Munich are looking to sign a youngster from a Premier League club and the player ditches the parent club, as he looks to ply his trade elsewhere. One of the prime examples yet again of what is happening at these top English clubs, showcasing that the youngsters are not really happy.
Callum Hudson-Odoi recently suggested that he wanted to leave the club, with strong interest from the Allianz Arena, as it was confirmed.
Only time will actually tell how much of a loss it will be to the Manchester based side, with some of the English giants already regretting selling stars in the years that have gone by. They eventually had to spend big money for the same stars that they could once develop and if Bayern can give these players the right kind of opportunities, the players can be either sold off for a huge bounty or can be club legends in the long-run.
This is something that the likes of City and co. will be having on their mind, when they decide against offering these players more chances to showcase their talents and better money deals. It will be interesting to see how these stories develop in the long-run. Stay tuned!!
