It was a great game for the debutants Brothers FC, who were facing off against Zynaks FC on the 9th of January, 2019 at the LELE ground in Tilakwadi in Belgaum. The team managed by Pavan Sardesai had been training quite hard (as we had reported earlier) and put in an impressive performance in the match. They were always looking as the dominant side right through and it was quite clear which team was going to win this contest from the very start.
They game was quite open right at the beginning, with Sardesai’s side missing three glorious chances to open the scoring in the opening ten minutes. As the game went on, their opponents too had a few good chances, but failed to get anything out of it. There were more chances to follow in the first half an hour, though the game did not produce any goals.
Eventually, it was a 33rd minute goal by Taha Shaikh gave his team the lead. A composed left footed finish with a turn outside, gave him enough space to finish off a well-deserved goal. This was the move that set the momentum going for his team. Four minutes later, he added a 2nd goal to his name. The brace was enough to take his team into the break with a major advantage and the opposition just failed to recover.
There was only one dominant side in the game and it was Brothers FC that produced more of the same at the start of the second half. A superb cross sent across right at the start to Jayesh Sambrekar, from the man of the hour Taha, saw the former finishing it superbly with his right foot. The score read as 3-0 and this game seemed more or less done and dusted, even though there was a whole half still left.
Zynaks FC just couldn’t score in the match and the defensive work put in by Brothers FC was enough to help keep their opposition attackers out. Further, in the 70th minute of the match, a superb header from skipper Umar Meera made the score 4-0. He received a clinical cross from right flanks by Muzammil Ternikar and he finished it off in his rather trademark style.
A well deserved easy win for the team that was playing their first game, since the club was formed earlier this year. The coach and his staff would have been really pleased with his performance, as they not just scored four times, but managed to keep a clean sheet as well.
This is exactly what the fans and the management would have wanted from their players and the team, as a whole and they really did not disappoint. It was a brilliant game of football, with clearly one winner right through.
We at Beyond The Posts are also really proud of the team that Brothers FC has played their first game and will hope that they can produce more of the same, in the games to come and win some titles. Make us proud our brothers. Cheers!!
