Chelsea are eyeing to make a move for Abdoulaye Doucoure in this winter transfer window. The Blues have lost their play-maker Cesc Fabregas in this January and no proper replacements have been signed yet by the club management yet. The manager of the Blues, Maurizio Sarri made it clear that they would need a replacement of Cesc Fabregas in this transfer window.
Maurizio Sarri is playing with a 4-3-3 formation. In this system there is a big importance of a player in the role of a deep lying playmaker. Maurizio Sarri brought in Jorginho along with him at Chelsea to play in that position. Jorginho has started in that position in almost all the matches in the Premier League so far in this season. Cesc Fabregas was starting in the League Cup and Europa League matches. After the departure of Cesc Fabregas, there is a huge doubt about the player who is going to play in that role.
Chelsea club management have considered several options in this winter transfer window to bring in their squad. However, their prime target Leandro Paredes joined Paris Saint Germain with a transfer fee worth £40m. The next target of the Blues was Nicolo Barella. However, the release clause of the player is almost around £50m. So, the Blues did not make a move for him in this winter transfer window.
On the deadline of this January, Chelsea have been linked with Doucoure. The Watford midfielder was previously linked with Paris Saint Germain earlier in this winter transfer window. When Doucoure was asked about the rumour, Doucoure told,
“PSG holds an important place in my heart.
“They already contacted me, but I wanted to move to England at the time.
“Hearing that such clubs are interested in you, it is a pleasure.
“I think a club like PSG are looking for a lot of players, they have a lot of leads, I am not the only one. I am happy to evolve at Watford and the club trusts me.”
Doucoure is currently suffering with a knock in his knee and the manager of Watford, Javi Gracia did not get him in the squad in the match against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League on Thursday. Doucoure is flexible to play in any position in the midfield. The manager of Watford, Javi Gracia prefers to play with a 4-2-2-2 formation and the midfielders always exchange their positions at any time in the match.
Doucoure has also the experience to play in the Premier League. So, the pressure of the Premier League will not be new to him. He is well accustomed with the physicality of the Premier League. That’s why he might be a great signing for Chelsea at this moment. The Blues are in real need of a midfielder who can create the game-play and also can score. The midfielder of Watford has scored many goals from distance for his club. So, the Blues will go all out to bring in Doucoure on the deadline day of this winter transfer window.
