Eden Hazard’s Makes Statement About What Chelsea Needs To Immediately Do

Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard has stated that the Blues need to win the remaining fixtures in order to succeed at the ‘war’ of finishing in the top four to be eligible to play Champions League football next season. The West London club currently occupies the sixth place on the Premier League table and has to fend off competition from rival clubs in and around the top 4 to secure a Champions League berth.

Ever since Maurizio Sarri took over of Chelsea football club back in the summer of 2018, he has done quite an admirable job by replacing fellow Italian compatriot Antonio Conte.

The former Napoli tactician gained plenty of plaudits and praise by pundits and fans across the globe for introducing an effective and attractive brand of football into the Premier League. Chelsea also made it through their Europa League group stage and booked their spot in the Round of 16 in the European competition. Sarri also led Chelsea to the League Cup final but lost out to Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City on penalties. Recent heavy and humiliating defeats against Bournemouth and Manchester City forced Chelsea to lose grip on their 4th place and they have now slipped up two places into sixth.

But the race for a top 4 finish is well and truly on the cards as Chelsea are just two points off 4th placed Manchester United who are on 58 points after 29 games. Tottenham Hotspur also lost ground as they lost 2-0 against Chelsea last week and are seemingly out of the title race, but Mauricio Pochettino’s Spurs are adamant not to let their 3rd place slip up before the season ends.  It’s all very tight at the top half of the table with six teams looking to battle into the top 4. Two of them are quite certain as Liverpool and leaders Manchester City are locking horns to battle for the Premier League title.

Belgian winger Eden Hazard has now had his say on what he thinks of Chelsea’s chances are to finish with maximum points in the last few games of the season. Prior to the North London derby, which ended 1-1 with Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur sharing the spoils of war and dropping points as well, Hazard said that Chelsea need to focus on ending the season on a high and trying to gain the most points, “Top four is a hard war, because we’re not only four teams, we’re six teams. Now we have 11 games to play till the end of the season. We will try to take the maximum points.” Chelsea managed to get a positive 2-0 result against local London rivals Fulham in order to further re-ignite the back end of the campaign.

The Chelsea faithful will be glad to know that Hazard is keen on helping the club finish in the top 4 because it would mean that he would prefer to play Champions League football. However, on the other hand, it could mean that if Chelsea does not secure a spot in the elite competition the 28-year-old star attacker could leave Stamford Bridge to play at a club where he can win trophies on a regular basis.
