Match Preview: Liverpool Vs Bayern Munich, As Key Reds’ Star Missing From This Second-Leg Tie

Liverpool will face Bayern Munich on Wednesday in the second leg clash between these two sides in the round of 16 of the Champions League. The first leg between Liverpool and Bayern Munich ended with a scoreline of 0-0 at the Anfield. So, this match will be held at the Allianz Arena. Bayern Munich are holding a slight advantage as the match is going to be held at their home. In the first leg, Liverpool created a lot of opportunities. However, they failed to convert those chances into Goal in that match. So, this match is going to be really interesting.

Team News :

Bayern Munich will almost have their full squad against Liverpool on Wednesday. However, Thomas Muller will be absent as he is suspended for three matches in Europe. Manuel Neuer will be under the bars for Bayern Munich in this match. Rafinha, Sule, Hummels and Alaba will play in the defensive third of the German side.

Thiago Alcantara and Javi Martinez will be there in the holding midfield position for the away side. Franck Ribery might start the match for Bayern Munich at either flank and Gnabry will be there in the other flank for them. James Rodriguez will be there in the attacking midfield position. Robert Lewandowski will be playing at the centre forward position for Bayern Munich against Liverpool.

Liverpool :

Liverpool are in good form in this season. However, they failed to score any goal in the first leg against Bayern Munich. Liverpool were victorious against Burnley in the Premier League match with a margin of 4-2 on this weekend. Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino both scored a brace in that match against Burnley. Liverpool were also victorious against Watford with a margin of 5-0. So, their attacking line are producing good numbers of goals against the Premier League sides. However, they are not that much effective against the top sides. Liverpool drew against Manchester United with a scoreline of 0-0. Mohamed Salah is not at his prime best in this season.

An away goal is very much essential for the Reds in this match. If they can score very early in the first half, the match will be under control of them as Bayern Munich have no away goals under their belts.

Alisson will start under the bars for the Reds. Andrew Robertson will start as the left back while Van Dijk will be back in the central defense after coming back from the suspension. Dejan Lovren is slowly recovering from his injury and he might be included in the squad of Liverpool for this match. Jordan Henderson will be back in the starting lineup of Liverpool in this match. Sadio Mane is going to be a vital player for the Reds as he is in great form.

Naby Keita will be missing from the squad for the second leg due to a minor injury that he picked up recently, as per the latest update.
