Arsenal To Beat Tottenham In The Race To Sign This Top Serie A Superstar?

According to the latest reports, the Premier League duo of Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur are in the race to sign AC Milan’s star midfielder Franck Kessie in the upcoming summer transfer window. The two north London sides are hoping to build on their current squads and also compete for silverware as well in the near future.

Ever since taking charge of the Arsenal football club back in the summer of 2018, Unai Emery has done quite an impressive job by replacing legendary manager Arsene Wenger. The 69-year-old was in charge of Arsenal for 22 long years and won several major honours with the club, including three Premier League titles as well as seven FA Cups.

The Story Involving Both North London Giants, Arsenal And Tottenham

Wenger got Arsenal their own brand of football and started competing once again for titles, but towards the latter end of his career, his tactics seemed outdated as the younger generation of managers managed to outwit and outthink Wenger. Arsenal was no longer moving forward and Wenger finally decided that he needed to call it quits last season.

However, Emery has stepped in at breathing fresh life into the club, stamping his authority and philosophy into the team. The Spaniard has helped Arsenal to a 22 game unbeaten streak this season across all competitions and the Gunners are currently sitting in fourth place in the Premier League table. Arsenal also made it into the quarterfinals of the Europa League and will now face a two-legged tie against Serie A side Napoli in a few weeks’ time.

Tottenham Hotspur is still in third place in the Premier League and Mauricio Pochettino is quite clear that they need to sign some players to add some depth to his squad if Spurs are to challenge for major honours in the near future.

What Will Be The Fate Of This Transfer Saga; Who Will Sign Him?

Spurs did not do any transfer business in the summer and also lost key midfielder Moussa Dembele in the January transfer window earlier this year. However, both the North London giants are looking to battle it out this summer to sign Ivorian midfielder Franck Kessie. The 22-year-old has been absolutely brilliant for Gennaro Gattuso’s AC Milan and has attracted interest from several suitors in Europe.

Kessie arrived at the San Siro on a two-year loan deal from Atalanta and the Rossoneri has the option to pay €20m this summer and make his move permanent. Milan is still in the hunt for a Champions League berth and currently sit in fourth place in the Serie A table. Reports now claim that Kessie is looking for a move away from Milan after his recent struggle with form and his off-late spat with club mate Lucas Biglia on the bench further speculated a move away from the Italian club.

Reports also claim that Tottenham and Arsenal will have to pay a sum of €40m if they want to lure Kessie to the Premier League. Another English club in the form of Chelsea is monitoring the powerful midfielder’s situation and Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain are also keeping tabs on Kessie.
