Huge! Manchester United Makes Important Decision On Summer Transfer Budget

According to the latest reports, Premier League giants Manchester United are prepared to offer a record transfer budget to club manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in the upcoming summer transfer window at the end of the season. The report claims that Norwegian will be given a mammoth £200m to spend in the summer transfer window to bring in the reinforcements that he requires.

The Story About Manchester United And How Things Are Expected To Work Out?

There has been a massive change in fortunes at Old Trafford ever since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge of the club from Jose Mourinho back in December. The Portuguese manager was fired following a string of poor performances with defensive tactics and negative football, something that the United faithful wasn’t keen on seeing on a regular basis from their team.

After firing the ‘Special One’, United turned to a familiar face in the form of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to handle the reins at least until the end of the season to add stability to the sinking ship.

However, in his initial few games in charge of Manchester United, Solskjaer has exceeded expectations at the club and guided the English giants into the quarterfinals of the Champions League in dramatic fashion. United are currently in fifth place in the Premier League table as well, just two points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur at the moment and in contention for a top-four finish at the end of the season. But four losses in United’s last five games across all competitions highlighted the importance of making new signings in the summer to bolster their squad for next season. If Manchester United are to compete for silverware and major honours, they need to find the right recruits in the summer transfer window and Solskjaer is well aware of that.

What Next For The Red Devils With Regards To This Upcoming Transfer Window?

Reports also claim that Manchester United vice-chairman Ed Woodward has been mightily pleased with the way things are going with Solskjaer at the helm and he is planning on lending the 46-year-old a huge transfer budget to land on top players at Old Trafford. Solskjaer is set to be given the biggest transfer budget in the history of the club, a chance to spend over £200 million in the summer for reinforcements.

One major department that the Red Devils want to improve on is their backline and Solskjaer wants to sign a few top-quality centre-backs to add a solid base to the team. Even though Barcelona wasn’t at their brutal best in the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final, the La Liga giants were far too good for their counterparts. Therefore, United want to bring in more assurance to their rearguard and have targeted Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly as their top summer target.

Another central defender who has been linked with joining Manchester United is Real Madrid and World Cup-winning star Raphael Varane. United are currently monitoring the situation of the two defenders and their availability as well over the next few months, but none of them will come at a cheap price for sure.
