According to the latest reports, Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher has stated that the last few games in the Premier League title race will come down to a battle of nerves between Liverpool and Manchester City. The two English table toppers are at loggerheads with each other and the momentum is swinging either way with each passing game as both Liverpool as well as Manchester City are looking to outlast each other in the hunt for the Premiership.
Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool is currently sitting at the summit of the Premier League table and are enjoying their best ever season since the club formed back in 1892. The Reds are two points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, who still have a game in hand, but Liverpool have done astonishingly well to remain in the title hunt until now. Last term, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City broke multiple records as they stormed their way to the Premiership breaking plenty of records in the process and amassing a staggering 100 points. But this season, Liverpool are adamant to ensure that the race for the title goes right down to the wire as they will fight right until the end.
Manchester City have already won the League Cup after defeating Chelsea in the final of the competition in penalty shootouts. City have also made it to the finals of the FA Cup and will face Watford next month, but they faced a massive blow to their quadruple hopes as they crashed out of the Champions League this week.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham Hotspur knocked Manchester City out of the Champions League in dramatic fashion across the two legs of the quarterfinals. City were tipped to win all four trophies but Spurs ended that dream. Although the aggregate score was 4-4 against Spurs, the North London side progressed through to the last four of the elite tournament on the away goals rule. Manchester City then beat Spurs in the Premier League on Saturday to keep their hunt on for at least the domestic treble.
Manchester City moved to the top of the table on Saturday after a win over Spurs in the Premier League and now have to win their remaining four games to ensure that the Premier League title is in their own hands. A few tricky fixtures await and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes that the one team that holds their nerves will triumph at the end.

While speaking to the Telegraph, the former England defender said: “The Premier League title race has ceased to be solely about ability. Now it is primarily about the psychology of Manchester City and Liverpool. The club is buzzing preparing for a Champions League semi-final, trying to feed off their winning momentum. The other is fighting against the prospect of a demoralizing European setback having domestic repercussions. Assessing the mood of the two clubs in mid-week, you would not believe it is City that have already won one trophy this year, reached the final of another competition and remain favourites to win the Premier League.”
