Tottenham Hotspur are the only club in the top 5 leagues in Europe who did not invest a single pound in the transfer market this season. Mauricio Pochettino has relied on his squad to make them better and sharper than ever as they sit in the Premier League at 3rd position and have progressed to the semi-finals of the Champions League after beating the likes of Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City on the way where they face Ajax Amsterdam. This has to be commended for a brilliant job by a coach who trusted on the abilities of his players and the Argentinian deserves a huge round of applause for the work he has done at the club.
Come this summer, Spurs will look to strengthen their squad and have reportedly been fixated on Italian starlet Federico Chiesa as one of the players to be signed by the club. Chiesa is a favorite of Chelsea coach Maurizio Sarri and the Italian manager has reportedly made the 21 year old as one of the main targets to be landed at Stamford Bridge next summer.
However, an apparent transfer ban on Chelsea could play out in Daniel Levy’s favour as Tottenham can capitalise on the opportunity to sign the youngster as Chelsea remain handicapped in the situation.
Chiesa is having a brilliant season at Fiorentina, having scored 12 goals and registered 8 assists in 34 appearances this season. He has been a mainstay of the Fiorentina attack and has a contract at the club until June 2022 which increases his asking price to an extent. The La Viola youth academy product has attracted interest from many clubs in Europe over a long period of time, including the likes of Bayern Munich, Real Madrid and Juventus, but it was seemingly playing out in Chelsea’s favour and the transfer ban could only result in a win-win situation for Tottenham Hotspur.
Tottenham boss Daniel Levy is pretty much known for his tough stance on huge transfer fees, but Tottenham this time are seemingly convinced that the £70 million asking price for Chiesa is very much justified for Chiesa who’s still very young but has immense potential in store. The approach taken by Spurs will definitely be a huge display of intent as they look to capitalise on the absence of Chelsea in the transfer scene.

Chiesa is a baller who’s got very strong dribbling skills and can put through marvelous through balls. He is an indirect set piece threat and likes to cut inside during attacks and is a player who’s typically suited for Mauricio Pochettino’ s style of play.
Tottenham are a club on the rise and Chiesa would be a valuable addition to the side as they look to add silverware to their trophy cabinet and make a statement in England and Europe in the seasons to come. With Fiorentina likely to finish in a non-European spot in Serie A this season, it’s very likely that Chiesa will be looking to make a transfer and Tottenham hope to capitalise on the situation.
