What Chelsea Wants? Zinedine Zidane is looking to rebuild his Real Madrid squad this summer and there could be quite a number of changes including ones at the striker position. According to reports in Spain, Real Madrid have secured the services of Serbian hit-man Luka Jovic for a reported fee of €60m.
The 21-year-old is one of the hottest prospects in Europe this season having played a brilliant role in the Eintracht Frankfurt Europa League and Bundesliga campaign. He has scored 26 goals and assisted seven more in 44 appearances for Eintracht Frankfurt this season which has caught the eye of various clubs across Europe.
The Story Of The Interest From Chelsea In This Real Madrid Target
Contrary to AS which reported that the deal is done, Marca told that Eintracht wants Mariano as a part of the deal and that the deal was not complete. Eintracht sporting director Fredi Bobic put the final nail in the coffin for the time being by telling the following, “There has been no contact with Real Madrid [for Jovic]. For once, I do not have to use a white lie, they really have not been in touch yet. I know them very well.”
However, he told that if a big club comes calling Frankfurt will not stop him from moving on. Eintracht chief Bobic: “Jovic had the chance to mature as a man and as a player. There is a chance that he can stay a year from now. But if a big club arrives, who is ready to make an offer that reflects the value of the player, it will be impossible to keep him.”
“Jovic is definitely the most courted player in Europe right now, given his age & position. We can not deny that. We have a great relationship. He is very happy here & grateful. It is the truth but you cannot stop a player from realizing such a big dream.”
What Next For The Team From West London And The La Liga Outfit?
Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Chelsea are all interested in the striker. Barcelona is apparently offering to sign him this summer and loan him back to Frankfurt for a year which might suit both parties pretty well.
Niko Kovac is courting the Bayern Munich management to approach the player for his services. He had coached Jovic at Frankfurt and the player would suit his systems well at Bayern. Maurizio Sarri has told the Chelsea board to get the services of Jovic as Oliver Giroud is mostly leaving the club in the summer. Gonzalo Higuain hasn’t been impressive in his loan spell at Stamford Bridge.
Jovic is a versatile striker who scores with both feet. He has beautiful usage of the head and body parts. He’s the typical striker defenders hate to play against. Real Madrid has had no other consistent goal scorer other than Karim Benzema this season. Zidane will be hoping to get the Jovic deal done as he’s a player Real Madrid need the most.
The lack of quality in the final third is evident. Jovic is the perfect solution to Real Madrid’s solutions upfront right now. However, after what he did to them in the second leg of the semi-final of the Europa League, the Blues won’t let this player go that easy.
