Breaking: Roman Abramovich’s Offer To Frank Lampard; Will He Deliver?

Lampard Chelsea

According to the latest reports, Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is planning a big lucrative bonus for current Chelsea boss Frank Lampard, if he manages to ensure Champions League qualification in the upcoming season. The Englishman was confirmed as Chelsea manager earlier this week and unveiled as the new club boss just a day after signing a three-year contract worth £4m.

What Is Going On With Chelsea; Can Frank Lampard Deliver?

Chelsea is in a bit of a tough spot at the moment despite the fact that they finished in third place in the Premier League table this season and qualified for the Champions League as well. The Blues have already lost out on Belgian winger Eden Hazard as the 28-year-old signed for Real Madrid earlier last month in a £132m deal.

The star attacker joined Chelsea back in 2012 and helped the club win two Premier League titles, one League Cup, one FA Cup as well as two Europa League titles in his seven-year stint in West London. His move to the Santiago Bernabeu would be a massive blow to the English club over the next few seasons.

Following Hazard’s departure, even Maurizio Sarri stepped down as manager of Chelsea as he took up the job vacancy at Juventus. The Italian lasted just one season at Stamford Bridge and won the first trophy of his 30-year managerial career by lifting the Europa League by beating Arsenal in the final. However, there were reports that Frank Lampard would be the 60-year old’s successor even before Sarri left the club and that is now the case.

It’s not an easy job that Lampard is walking into. Chelsea is facing a transfer ban. It means that they will not be able to sign any players over the next two transfer windows. That is, for a whole year now. Lampard has only one year of managerial experience. He almost guided Derby County into the Premier League but fell short of promotion towards the last few stages.

The Blues Have This Advantage For The Upcoming Games

The 41-year-old Lampard already has an advantage with the fans. That is as he was a player at the club not too long ago. He is still the club’s all-time top goalscorer. Lampard will also be given time to leave a mark of his philosophy on the club.

The Londoners, where he has become a legend. He has the opportunity to bring back any of the players at Chelsea the club has sent out on loan over the past few years.

There is a bit of a managerial merry-go-round at Chelsea at present. Only the best ones remain, as most managers are given the sack. That is if they aren’t able to deliver trophies on a regular basis. The west London giants have had three different managers for three consecutive terms now (two Italians and now Lampard).

Lampard could suffer the same fate. That is as he has now signed a three year deal with the club. Will be returning to Chelsea as manager. Lampard will be earning £4m a year. A big bonus in store. That is if he guides the Blues to Champions League football next season.
