Ex-Chelsea And Celtic Man Blasts Solskjaer For This Reason

Chris Sutton has blasted Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and co. for letting Alexis Sanchez go to Inter Milan in the summer transfer window. Alexis Sanchez has joined Inter Milan with season long loan deal. However, the former English footballer Chris Sutton believes that the Red Devils should not have allowed Alexis Sanchez to leave Manchester United in this summer transfer window.

What Did Chris Sutton Have To Say About Solskjaer?

Alexis Sanchez was one of the best players in the football circuit, back when he joined Manchester United, though was struggling for match-fitness under Solskjaer. After joining the Red Devils, his performance graph has been declined sharply.

He was not able to perform his best at Old Trafford in the last two seasons. That is why the club management decided to let him join a new club for the betterment.

According to Chris Sutton, it was a wrong decision taken by the club management of the Red Devils and Solskjaer. The Manchester-based side will now be short of options upfront of the field. The Red Devils only have Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial to play up front.

Romelu Lukaku also joined Inter Milan in this summer transfer window from Manchester United. Romelu Lukaku has already started to show his class in Serie A. However, Alexis Sanchez has not been able to make an appearance for the Serie A side till now.

Alexis Sanchez was among the substitutes in Inter Milan’s last match against Cagliari. However, he was not being fielded by Antonio Conte in that match. However, we can expect that Alexis Sanchez will get ample opportunities to prove himself at Inter Milan.

On the other hand, the situation of Manchester United is getting worse day by day. After the win against Chelsea with a margin of 4-0 in the opening fixture of the Premier League at Old Trafford. After that, they failed to win a single match in the Premier League. Two draws against Wolves and Southampton and a defeat against Crystal Palace have pulled Manchester United out of the top four race from the very beginning of the season.

According to the football pundits, Manchester United are not having enough options upfront of the field. They have to rely on the players like Greenwood as a replacement if one of Martial or Rashford gets injured. The attacking unit of the Red Devils are too much dependent on Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford.

What Will The Red Devils Do Next?

In the wings, Daniel James is playing well but he lacks experience of playing in the big stage. The lack of options in the attacking third might cause a big problem for Manchester United in the next half of the season.

He told the Daily Mail, “United have not got the players to get [back into the top four]. I can not believe they let Alexis Sanchez go. They had already sold Romelu Lukaku and signed no replacement, so they were already light up-front. I fear Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has cut his nose off to spite his face. He is now relying on Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial, maybe even 17-year-old Mason Greenwood to do a job up-front.”

On the other hand, the former English footballer Chris Sutton thinks that the club management of Manchester United should have brought a replacement of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez before selling them to Inter Milan.

Both of them were handy in the previous season when United had to play 2 matches per week. The squad rotation might be a big problem for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in this season as he does not have enough options available in his hand.

He further added, “I am not so sure Solskjaer will [make it until the end of the season]. He took over at Old Trafford last season, finishing with one win in their last seven Premier League games. Now their troubles are continuing.”
