Match Report: Manchester United Secure 1-0 Win Over FK Partizan; Though It Was Far From Convincing

Premier League giants Manchester United secured yet another narrow win over FK Partizan, in their Europa League match on Thursday. The Red Devils won this tie 1-0, with the only goal of the game coming from a first-half penalty from Anthony Martial. The English side have not been in the best of form in recent times and it was a spot-kick in the 43rd minute that gave them a win over their rivals.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side has been quite poor since the start of this season. They have been trying to improve, but are short on quality and personnel. After letting Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez leave in the summer, things have not been going well for them.

The main problem was that the club failed to sign any replacements to fill the void of the departing stars. Due to this, things went from bad to worse for them and they are now struggling to recover.

Despite the 1-1 draw against Liverpool at the weekend at Old Trafford, the Manchester-based side really needs to turn things around and fast. They need to find some goals from an outlet like Daniel James or other United players, which can really take the pressure off of Marcus Rashford’s shoulders.

He has been playing as the main striker week-in and week-out, while Martial was injured and recovering on the side-lines. On the other hand, Solskjaer does not back youngster Mason Greenwood just yet, to start him regularly in the top flight of English football. With that being said, the options have been rather few and the team has been struggling to cope up with the fixtures.

This has been a major talking point and a solution has not been found yet. The team management and the manager are keen on resolving this issue and may look to buy more players in January. Quite a few targets have been already listed and the management will be hoping to push for a deal, once the transfer window is open.

Solskjaer’s job at Old Trafford is far from safe at present. If the team fails to deliver in the upcoming weeks, things can go from bad to worse for him. The lack of squad depth and the problems within the team have hurt their ambitions so far this season. However, the campaign is far from done and the players and the Norwegian boss can turn this around.

It will not be easy, but it is still possible. The first thing that he needs to address is the problem with scoring more goals from open-play and ensuring that the team puts some points on the boards. The Manchester-based side is in 14th place right now, with ten points from nine games.

They are just a couple of points above the relegation zone and a few more poor results could see him get the sack. Whether the team can now turn things around or not, remains to be seen. The fans will be hoping for better football and more adventurous play, though whether Solskjaer delivers or not, remains to be seen.
