It was recently announced that CM Punk would be joining Fox and working with WWE, though his role was just not fixed yet. “The Best In The World” had left the company on a “sour-note” back in 2014, as he was fired on his wedding day in June. However, with Punk failing to find success elsewhere, his return to the WWE was imminent.
The new deal with Fox proved to be a huge boost for the “Straight-Edge” superstar, who has now signed a deal with the News Network. This could mean that he is free to appear on SmackDown if he can crack a deal with the WWE officials.
The company will also be excited to have their former employee back, with Vince never know to hold grudges, in places where money is to be made. With that being said, if Punk does appear on SmackDown, here are the three perfect opponents that he can face off against-
3. Roman Reigns
The Big Dog is the face of SmackDown now and will want to compete against some of the best on the roster. Keeping that in mind, who could be a bigger challenge than the returning Punk. The crowd with be all up for this fight and it could get one of the loudest cheers in recent times if the Chicago Boy puts in one of his super-promos and steals the show.
However, Vince and co. maybe a bit sceptical about this feud, as it may turn the fans totally against Reigns. They are already slowly turning their back on his story-line once again and things could just go from bad to worse. Also, if Reigns beats Punk, the match would make no sense, unless there is a “revenge-factor” attached to it, with regards to the boss. Despite that, Vince can never say “No” to a big money fight, which can possibly cash-in on.
2. Daniel Bryan
One of the most technically-sound wrestlers on the Blue Brand at present, Daniel Bryan will be looking for a new challenge now. Rowan has moved to RAW and the Yes movement is apparently back. This could set up a great feud with CM Punk, where two baby-faces take on each other in the battle for supremacy.
This could surely be a promo and match for the ages and the fans would really love to see it. The WWE Universe has been always looking for some moments to cherish and this could surely be one of them.
1. Shane McMahon
The perfect clash between the original “Best In The World” versus the self-proclaimed “Best In The World”. This could be one battle which the fans would like to see and surely Punk would be the victor in this contest. Even though Shane is fired at present (as per the Kevin Owens story-line), there could surely be a plot-twist, if the WWE wants to bring him back and restart the boss versus employee rivalry.
Punk has never been a fan of the WWE management and he could now take on as the new face, against Shane. It is an intriguing possibility and only time will tell what the company decides for their newly reinstated employee.
