Breaking: Former Chelsea Striker Names His Pick For The Arsenal Job

Arsenal are going through a very tough phase under Unai Emery right now. The Spaniard who turned 48 earlier this month is facing a lot of wrath from the supporters and sections of media due to kind of performances The Gunners have been delivering off late. Their last Premier League win came back over 50 days back when they won 1-0 at home against Bournemouth back on the 6th of October.

There has been an international break in between this period but things haven’t changed much for Unai Emery. The former Paris Saint-Germain main-man is yet to find a combination, which helps Arsenal add some much-need points in the Premier League table.

A managerial change is being discussed for long now and several names like Jose Mourinho and Max Allegri have been discussed in the media recently. Meanwhile, Jose has been snapped up by North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur, who parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino after his 5-year stint at the club.

One surprise name that has come up during discussions about possible new managers for Arsenal is Sheffield United coach Chris Wilder. The 52-year-old Englishman has led Sheffield United from the second division to the sixth spot in the Premier League after 13 match-days.

Former Chelsea striker Tony Cascarino believes that the Sheffield manager is the right man for the Arsenal job. He further adds that he can inspire the players to put in such displays, which have already taken the Premier League by awe.

“Man United job, Arsenal job – Chris Wilder? Absolutely,” Cascarino told in a recent interview with talkSPORT.

“There would be a snobbery around football that would go for Allegri or Mourinho. But I am like, ‘No, I would rather go with Chris Wilder.’

“He knows football, he is a proper football person. Like Sir Alex Ferguson, Jurgen Klopp at Mainz, Pep Guardiola at Barcelona B – he has shown what he can do.

“I believe there are managers in lower league football who are very gifted and deserve an opportunity. Chris has gone through the whole lot.”

Arsenal has invested this summer on players like Kieran Tierney and Nicolasa Pepe but is yet to bear the fruits of their investment. Furthermore, the Granit Xhaka fiasco has further complicated things on Emery’s end and he is apparently hanging on a very thin thread and the results are not doing any favour to support his cause. Pepe is just a shadow of the player he was at Lille and the forward’s output in front of goal has been minimal and this is overall affecting the team’s performance.

This weekend, the former Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain manager had a heated argument with Alexandre Lacazette, who’s one of the leaders in the dressing room now. This weekend’s 2-2 draw with Southampton means Arsenal are eighth in the Premier League table and are eight points below the top four.

If things like these continue, Emery’s future at The Emirates is bleak and The Gunners will be appointing a new manager to take charge of the team very soon.
