Chelsea Star Claims That The Blues Desperately Need Three Points Against Tottenham

The experienced campaigner of the Blues, Chelsea star Willy Caballero told that the Blues would be desperate to get all three points against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday. Chelsea are currently at the fourth position in the League table of the Premier League. On the other hand, Tottenham Hotspur are just behind the Blues in the League table. They are at the fifth position with 26 points from 17 matches so far. If Tottenham Hotspur can secure a win against Chelsea at their home stadium, they’ll be level on points with the Blues.

A few days earlier, the scenario was completely different. The Blues were playing really well under the management of Frank Lampard. However, after the end of the previous International Break, they lost their way. The Blues have been able to secure only one win out of last five matches. It is certainly very much disheartening for a top side like Chelsea.

The defeat against Manchester City by a margin of 2-1 was still acceptable. However, the next three defeats against West Ham United, Everton and Bournemouth would certainly haunt Chelsea in the later stage of the tournament. Most importantly, the opponent teams were not in good form when they came to play against Chelsea.

West Ham United were on the verge of the relegation zone and their manager Manuel Pellegrini was about to be sacked when they played against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Still, the Hammers were able to secure all three points from that match by a margin of 1-0 in the London Derby. Everton scored three goals against the Blues at Goodison Park and Bournemouth edged past Chelsea with a last moment goal of Gosling.

On the other hand, after the arrival of Jose Mourinho as their new manager, Tottenham Hotspur have been showing a great form. They have won back to back a few matches. Manchester United edged past Tottenham Hotspur by a margin of 2-1. However, in the next match in the Premier League, Tottenham secured three important points against Wolves in the away match. Jan Vertonghen’s last-minute header could prove to be crucial in the top four race this season.

According to the Chelsea star, the team would have to collect all three points to stay in the top race. They have to put some extra efforts in the field to secure a win against this strong Spurs side. The form of both the teams can be an important factor ahead of the game.

When Caballero was asked about the managerial battle between Frank Lampard and Jose Mourinho, he told that the game would be played in the pitch; not in the bench. So, the Blues will not concentrate much on Jose Mourinho ahead of this match. These two managers also previously met each other in the previous season when Frank Lampard was managing Derby County and Jose Mourinho was the manager of Manchester United.

The mutual respect would certainly be present there between them as Frank Lampard played under Jose Mourinho for five seasons. However, it would not play any role to decide the fate of the match.
