Mikel Arteta became the new manager of the Gunners. The club management of Arsenal has sacked Unai Emery after a dismal start of the season. The Gunners are currently at the tenth position in the League table with 22 points in 17 matches so far. They are six points behind Chelsea who are at fourth place in the League table of the Premier League. If the Gunners continue to play like this, they will certainly miss the Champions League spot in the next season as well. After the departure of Unai Emery, Freddie Ljungberg has been continuing as the interim manager.
However, the club management of the Gunners did not see him as the long term option. That’s why they were trying to figure out a deal with Mikel Arteta as soon as possible. Will the problems of Arsenal be removed after the appointment of Mikel Arteta as the new manager of the Gunners?
Here we will discuss why Arsenal’s nightmare will continue, post the appointment of Mikel Arteta now-
1. Lack Of Experience:
Mikel Arteta has no managerial experience so far till now. He has worked with the management team of Pep Guardiola at Manchester City. However, there is a certain difference between managing a club and being an assistant coach of a club. The pressure of big matches in the Premier League and taking important decisions at the crunch moments will not be easy for a new manager like Mikel Arteta. So, certainly, they will lack the edge under him.
2. Arsenal’s Defensive Issues:
Currently, the Gunners need a manager who can organise their defence. The Gunners are scoring goals on regular basis this season as Pierre Emerick Aubamyeang has been in great form and Martinelli and Alexandre Lacazette are also supporting him throughout the season so far. However, the problem of the Gunners lies in their defence. The defensive unit of the Gunners is leaking goals in every match. The central defensive pair of the Gunners are looking very weak. The combination of Sokratis and Luiz is certainly not working for them. The defensive midfield area is another area of concern for the Gunners. Granit Xhaka is not looking in great form this season. The star midfielder is coming into the headlines for the wrong reasons.
Mikel Arteta will wish to play free-flowing football. He will not like to concentrate more on the opposite sides. His side will have a unique type of attacking display. However, this will not help them much as the defensive issues will still be there. In the big matches, the defensive organization of a side is really important in terms of getting the edge in the match. So, the future of Arsenal under Mikel Arteta is not looking very bright.
3. Lack Of Transfer Budget For Mikel Arteta:
The club management of the north London giants will not be able to provide too many funds to Mikel Arteta to bring in new players. Without bringing in new players, Mikel Arteta will certainly face problems at Arsenal to implement his own strategy.
