Top Five Premier League Moments Of The Decade (2011-2020)

The Premier League has been one of the best things that could happen to football fans around the globe. From nail-biting finishes to unexpected title wins, this decade has really taken things to another level. A lot of things have changed over the course of these ten years and it has been a case of “out with the old” and “in with the new”.

Keeping that in mind, here are the five top moments from the top flight of English football from this decade-

5. Manchester City-Liverpool title race(18/19)

One of the closest contests of the Premier League era. Manchester City and Liverpool exchanged their leads 32 times over the season. The two title contenders jointly combined for a total of 195 points which is the highest combined total in English top-flight history. Guardiola’s City edged out Liverpool by a single point to claim their sixth league title.

4. Steven Gerrard Slip (2014)

The most ironic incident in this list because of Gerrard’s impassioned “we don’t let this slip” speech just came a game before.

Considered as one of the greatest Premier League players. The slip against Chelsea(not his best moment, surely) in the 2013-14 season was seen by many as significant in preventing Liverpool from winning their first domestic title since 1990.

With the Reds on an 11-game winning run and top of the table, Gerrard slipped attempting to control a pass, allowing Demba Ba to run through and slot past Simon Mignolet in front of the Kop, as a result, the Reds lost the game and lost control of the PL title race. Manchester City eventually went on to win the title to make it worse for one of Liverpool’s greatest.
