Jadon Sancho’s stint with Borussia Dortmund keeps hanging as it is very uncertain that the 19-year-old will play for the Bundesliga club for ‘another five years’ admits their sporting director Micheal Zorc. After their 3-1 loss against Barcelona in the Champions League draw, Micheal Zorc made it clear that there has been no decision made on Jadon Sancho’s transfer. Dortmund lost the game owing to Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Antoine Griezmann’s brilliant strikes. However, there was much more to justify for the German club after the match.
After being questioned about the reason the winger was not starting any of the recent games, Dortmund manager Favre said, “I explained to him [why he was not starting] before the game. I told him it was a really difficult game here in Barcelona, and we needed players that were really focused and that went on to the pitch really focused.”
Now the irony here is that Dortmund’s solitary goal in this match was scored by Sancho in the 77th minute. This is not the first time Favre has taken a decision like this. If one remembers Dortmund’s 4-0 loss to Bayern Munich, and Favre justifying Sancho’s substitution in the first half by saying that the winger’s performance was not good enough.
On the other hand, according to a report by Daily Mail, Jadon Sancho wants to leave Borussia Dortmund at the earliest. The 19-year-old was also publically slammed by his club’s coach and sports director when he delayed his return from the international break. A fine of around €100,000 and a one-game suspension was imposed on the winger.
Sancho is under contract until 2022, but his early release can cost anything above €100m. The winger has scored 20 goals for the senior Dortmund club in so many seasons. His impressive performances have interested many clubs who are looking to strengthen their attacking game. The interested clubs are ready to spend well in order to hire this Englishman’s skills.
According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool, Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain, Barcelona and Real Madrid are interested in Sancho’s services. It has been further added that the Red Devils already trying to make a move on him. Borussia Dortmund’s CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke admitted that they rejected huge transfer offer for Jadon Sancho from ‘Super Club’.
While interacting with media Zorc said, “He (Sancho) has taken this positive development [at Dortmund]. I doubt that would have been possible with top English clubs. We trust the players very early, and we are not afraid to let them play. He acknowledges that.”
“He is an instinctive footballer, a street footballer, he is always a footballer, but he is always setting new limits. He does not sit back satisfied. He wants to play football successfully and beautifully. That alone is his motivation,” the Sports Director added.
Jadon wasn’t allowed to interact with any press post their loss to Barcelona. The young English winger has kept mum about his choices. The earliest the decision is made the better it is for all parties involved in this transfer.
