What A Signing: Chelsea Signs Another Youngster To Bolster Their Squad

Chelsea signs talented youngster: In recent times, Chelsea has garnered a strong reputation for developing young players. They boast one of the best youth setups in England as well as in Europe and their youth recruitment is also top-notch. They have been winning titles in recent years and will be hoping to get back to winning ways in the near future.
The Blues have completed the signing of yet another promising young player in the form of Leo Castledine from AFC Wimbledon. The 14-year-old is the son of a former Homes Under the Hammer host, Lucy Alexander. Further, his father is a former Wimbledon forward Stewart, who played for the original Dons back in the 1990s.
His mother, who also presented on the Nickelodeon channel, could not hide his pride as her son made the switch to Stamford Bridge. She also expressed her joy and commented, “Congratulations son.”
Chelsea complete signing of Leo Castledine from AFC Wimbledon ...
Leo is one of her two children with Stewart. He followed in the footsteps of his father when he joined the League One side at the age of seven.
Stewart played for Wimbledon from 1991 until 2000, but the youngster has decided to end his stay with the club after seven years.
The youngster announced the move on Instagram, as he shared a photograph of himself signing the Chelsea contract. Alongside the image, he further wrote: “Very excited to say that I have signed for @chelseafc today. My time at @afc_wimbledon was amazing and I can not thank them enough, however, it is time for a new chapter. #cfc #chelseafc.”
AFC Wimbledon released a statement on their club website following Leo’s switch to the Premier League giants.
Their academy manager Michael Hamilton said: “Naturally, we are very disappointed to lose Leo, but we wish him every success in the future and will be monitoring his progress.”
“Leo’s development is down to not only his hard work and application, but also to all the staff here behind the scenes, so I would like to acknowledge James, Rob and anyone else who has played a part in this young man’s journey.”
Frank Lampard: Chelsea success wouldn't exist without Roman Abramovich
The 14-year-old midfielder is an England Under-15 international and became the youngest AFC Wimbledon player to feature for their under-18 side last season.
He is a central midfielder who is yet to develop but he looks naturally gifted on the ball and is an all-action midfielder. He is also versatile for a player who is just 14 and could be moulded into a really useful player at Chelsea. He started his career in defence but gradually found his place in the middle of the park which is one of the reasons why he is a complete midfielder.
The west London outfit has done a great job by signing him, as he is surely a long-term prospect. Chelsea signs players whom they think can be useful to them in the long-run.
They have looked really ambitious in recent times and that has not changed, with club legend Frank Lampard taking charge at the start of the current season. Knowing the management’s ambitions, signing such an interesting and talented player could only help their long-term cause.
